coming in for worlds

What are good places to stay and name some good bars. Going to need a drink after long days of gaming!

Wife, son, and I stayed at the Days Inn over May 4th. It was cheap, but you get (or don't get) what you pay for. So we're finding the closest Drury Inn this time around. It might be a little farther away, but the accommodations and breakfast are worth it to us.

Edit: apparently there isn't a Drury in the area. So we're staying at the Radisson.

Im at the Raddison close to the Game Center.

A trip to the Mall of America wouldn't take too long from there. Not sure if that's something you'd like to see but I know a lot of people who come up here like to pay it a visit.

There's a couple resturants like Fridays and such not far from the event center.

Not sure about bars... I live about an hour away from the event center, but I live in Wisconsin which doesn't overcharge for watered down beer. ;)

Wisconsin doesn't have to overcharge for watered down beer.

They invented it.

Radisson Hotel Roseville
2540 Cleveland Ave N
Roseville, MN 55113

Super 8 Roseville Minneapolis St Paul Area
2401 Prior Ave N
Roseville, MN 55113

Are the closest two hotels. Both are about a block away from the new Games Center. If you have been to the Event Center, keep in mind that the old Event Center is no more, the new space opens up tonight and is about a block south.

These are also close:

Holiday Inn Express Roseville-St. Paul
2715 Long Lake Rd
Roseville, MN 55113

Days Inn Roseville,St. Paul
2550 Cleveland Ave N
Roseville, MN 55113

Motel 6 Minneapolis North Roseville
2300 Cleveland Ave N
Roseville, MN 55113

There are a mess of restaurants and bars near by. Granite City at Rosedale is a personal favorite. Nordeast Minneapolis is known for the bar scene, and it's about 10 minutes away. If you are interested in that, I can suggest a ton (that's home for me). The Games Center also has a full menu (I'll find out what exactly tonight), as well as beer/wine/hard/cider.

Yeah one nice thing - others can help you with accomodations better, but there is all of the food and shopping in the world within about a mile of the event center. It's just down the street from the Rosedale mall, which is in turn surrounded by shopping, restaurants, and movie theaters. Pretty much say what you enjoy eating or purchasing and I can give you some suggestions. :D

The mall is a mile from the event center? So as long as my thin Arizona blood can survive your temperatures, I should be able to walk there then. Excellent.

Any grocery stores nearby to stock up on snacks for the hotel room? :)

As for bars, I suggest Granite City Brewery which is located in the mall a few blocks west from the game center, or you know the Game Center itself as they DO serve a fine selection of local Minnesota beers....

well, I hope you all have fun in Roseville, Mn. next weekend. I will not be attending worlds, as i am intending on playing more locally. I have played in two major tournaments and as i enjoyed them very much, i did not place well, and my thoughts are that worlds is a place for the better players to hash it out for the title. I will however plan on coming to roseville in the spring, for the may 4th event if they have it again. also plan on playing at gencon again. I wish all of you x-wing players all the luck in the world and I hope that I will beable to attend worlds next year as a much improved player. BTW! can anyone tell me how to get my dice to like me? and at least roll better for me? lmao! good luck next weekend my fellow players and may the force be with the rebels! OH!!!! i stayed at the super 8 last may 4th! it is cheap but that is the problem. it is cheap! and the website lies with it's pictures of it. i plan on spending a little more for a etter room next year.
