The board was set with most of the asteroids on my right hand side so I lined up my Alpha on the left most side and the shuttle with Vader near the middle. He followed by putting all his PS 2 ships directly in front of the Alpha. I put my Ties to the right of the shuttle and he put Kyle near the middle as well within range 3 of the rest of his ships.
I won't do a turn by turn breakdown because I don't remember all the details and I didn't think to take any notes.
Basically, the rebels moved forward slowly to allow Kyle to build up focus tokens to pass out when the shots started. I moved my shuttle forward pretty aggressively and arced the TIEs in after it for focused fire. I made a bad move with my interceptor on the first turn and it ended up on an asteroid and took a direct hit crit leaving it with 1HP right off the bat.
We continued to move towards each other until we were in attack range starting on the second turn. Kyle, the B-wing and one of the X-wings got good shots at the shuttle and stripped it's shields while the TIEs took long range shots and took down a few shield tokens.
At this point the rebels were so focused on my shuttle with Vader that I was able to get the TIEs into great firing positions and proceeded to barrel roll out of firing arcs when possible and pound away at range one.
The shuttle was quickly destroyed and the crippled interceptor followed shortly thereafter only getting a few long range shots off. By that time though, the first pass was over and the rebel ships ended up spread out over half the table. One TIE went after the B-wing and stayed behind it firing away. The other two TIEs went after the two X-wings, survived some attacks and got behind them to finish the job. Kyle took a while to turn around and get back in the fight and by the time he did all three TIEs surrounded him for the final kill.
Though I was initially planning to use Vader in the shuttle as a major offensive to hand out a few crits, he ended up being more of a decoy to distract my opponent while I got my other ships into good positions. In the end, the maneuverability of the TIEs is what ended up winning the game. Being able to avoid a heavy opening rebel salvo from a B-wing and two X-wings and Kyle's blaster cannon gave me the time to spread things out and take advantage of the TIEs strength.
Of course, some really lucky rolls helped too. :)
It was a really fun match. Thanks to Ken-Obi for playing and for letting me borrow his shuttle to try this list out!
