Dangerous Covenants!

By I. J. Thompson, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Where in Europe to do live Varro? I get mine from my local in Scotland, but then again, Esdevium (who stock the UK) have a great relationship with FFG and are able to get product out very easily to game shops and Amazon UK. Do you have any local hobby shops that you would be able to order the product on? I know the FFG website is meant to be pretty expensive for overseas purchases.

I live in Czech Republic (A small country west of Germany, in case you haven't heard about us, which sadly happens), as far as I know, there's only one czech online shop offering EotE (and GM Kit, Beyond the Rim, etc.), quite possibly they'll be able to sell AoR when it it comes out as final product too, although in rather lately fashion. Unfortunately, the prices aren't very student-friendly either, yet I guess it's better than not having the option to buy the books at all.

I'm American, and because of that I assume that I suck at geography . However, having been to Prague a few years ago, I was fairly certain it's east of Germany. However, being American, I had check Google Maps just to be sure. Unless Google Maps has been hacked (and unless I've been brain-hacked), the Czech Republic still rests east of Germany and south of Poland.

I am german, and the Czechs are east neighbour, not west!

I wonder if the aqualish will be given writeups for each supspecies?

As for the heavy, if it would be like the gunner they would use gunner. My bet it is a specialty devoted to armour and big weapons. Expect a talent to give encumberance or at least lessen it.

The enforcer i see likely be brawl focused or concealable weapons focused. More a hitman type

Mmmmmm... more guns.

We might see something like the Gand variants here; exchanging bonus XP for something else cool.

EDIT: Ignore this ignorant comment.

Frankly, I am hoping for more attachments rather than more weapons. That exponentially expands the weapon possibilities.

In the Suns of Fortune book details they specifically call out that they are going to provide three new races. Neither of the class books say anything about that. So, I wouldn't get your hopes up for new species in those books until something official is said.

Does this count as official enough?http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4385

Because enter the unknown is getting Chiss, Duros and Toydarians.

What do you mean?

They've expressly said the explorer book will get Chiss, Toydarians and Duros.

So my bet is every career book will get 3 races too.

More attachments would be great, but I want my kriffing concussion rifle.

Yes!! Enemies flying across the screen, slamming into bulkheads, crumpling like ragdolls. No, it's not a Dark Jedi on a rampage, just a guy with a concussion rifle.

Another book for Star Wars..... I feel so alone here.

Im so happy to see this...with how quickly Warhammer Fantasy Role Play 3rd support fizzled out, I was afraid we wouldn't get books for all of the careers before they decided to cut development resources...I hope that people fork out the dough and buy all of these books by the truckload...I'm hoping for a long, healthy lifespan for this game....that and my character is a Merc Soldier....so for me, this book cant get here soon enough!

I knew when they announced the first Occupation handbook that others would follow. But I kinda thought that they would maybe actually release the book before they announced another one.

My wallet is crying. I haven't looked at the AoR beta, but I'll assume that's 6 unique Occupations, and another 6 in FaD. Weep wallet, weep.

There is actually a decent amount of overlap in career specializations between AoR and EotE. Slicer, Mechanic, Pilot, Scout - all have exactly the same talent trees in both books. Early speculation was that people could double dip to get crazy ranks in some of the talents, but Andy Fischer squashed that in his interview on Order 66. You cant buy into the same specialization twice...and since they have the same name and talent tree, they are considered the same for these purposes...Still, the themes of the parent careers are different enough that I could easily see each of the 12 careers (and then 6 more for Force and Destiny) getting their own books...That collection will look nice lined up on a book shelf!

Yes I can pretty much be 100% percent confident that every book outside of adventures will have a new species. Species sell books and they only take up two pages if they release three a time.

I'm an idiot. Don't listen to me.

I'm an idiot. Don't listen to me.

There are bigger idiots around here not worth listening to.

So with the inclusion of Aqualish I can finally make the one-armed Tatooine Architect concept.

"Today's the day I get that promotion..."

I see what you did there.

On a different note, I'd also like to see planetary supplements with campaign, race and location resources.

I'd prefer if they tighten the window a bit on these profession books between announcement and delivery. As is, I get a persistent feeling of having an incomplete game, and any given bit of info that will be in an official book comes with what seems like a 5+ month wait. I realize they need to expand the game, and I'm happy they're doing so, but right now all I'm seeing is a pair of crunchy expansion books that are not yet available, and a new core beta book that I'm guessing has less new material than either of the career books.

They announce each new item so far in advance that the excitement (for me anyway) wears off pretty far out from the actual release date. They want to give people the message that the game is being worked on feverishly, but the long delays undermine this.

I also wish the career books were more closely spaced to other career books, so such an inordinate amount of time didn't go by between the first one (which will greatly enhance the Explorer) and whichever comes last. At this rate it will be early 2015.

Still, all grumbling aside, I'm glad to see these books are in the works.

To be fair....FFG's policy seems to be to announce books with a web article, then 45 days later do a follow-up article, and then 45 days later the book is on shelves...90 days isn't really that much lead time. There are other fans that wish they knew the release schedule for the entire line a year in advance. I think a 90 day average lead time is a pretty reasonable window. Some of us have to save our pennies for these tihngs, you know! We need the time.

I'm just happy they seem to be throwing their support behind this line.

The teasers seem just right to me - a little information first, then a specific breakdown of the contents later. Just enough to get us discussing and salivating.

Glad the Explorer book is first, because it seems the weakest concept to me as I've said in other threads, and this book should address that.

To my fellow European friends, always check www.bookdepository.com/co.uk . I've got my core rulebook there for 38E with free shipping while at the same time in the RPG shop in Nurnmberg they wanted for the same rulebook nearly 60E! Same for the dice - 10.5 E. Found cheap Beyond the Rim through amazon.co.uk marketplace . Owners of these shops/website own me a discount!

I agree that the teasers are a good thing, at least as far as my own games are concerned. It helps me plan out future campaigns if I know what kind of material/sourcebooks will be on hand in the near future.

Since Suns of Fortune as Corellians as a variant Human, I wonder if we'll see Mandos as a variant Human as well.

As soon as I saw that about the Corellians, I though EXACTLY the same thing Donovan. I am pretty sure they will get their own book.

Here here! to everyone that keep saying Hutt Space. Manos and Hutt Space are the two books I want the baddest.

Rather than removing them, why not put them into an appendix at the end of the document. If the document is unofficial, there's no harm in having an alternate take on the official species too.

It's more a case of doing as little to step on the license holder's toes as possible. While doing fan work helps promote a system, there's always the chance of the license holder issuing a cease & desist. Case in point, Kevin Simbeida who got overly protective of his IP (the Palladium system) and had scores of fan websites shut down via court orders. I saw this first hand when a friend of mine got such a cease & desist regarding a RIFTS fansite he was running, mostly as it offered a number of rules patches to make the game into something remotely playable. So far the general attitude of FFG in regards to the GSA has been "we're all cool," but I'd rather not push my luck, especially the way it's been running the past several weeks.

I figure we're gonna get one AoR repeat (as they want to port the species over), and a weequay/nikto/talz (nod to the cartoon with the last.

mandos, I'm betting are gonna go in the bounty hunter book, if they don't go in a system book.
