Also keep in mind, you would proably have to revamp every movement dial for "in atmosphere" movement for all fighters.

For example, Tie's have GREAT turning in space. In atmosphere, they couldn't be any more sluggish. No aerodynamics.

Keep in mind that in the film The Empire Strikes Back the wonderful little Ties did a fine job zipping around in atmosphere as they harassed The Millennium Falcon around Cloud City...and then followed our heroes right into space too.

;)

X-Wings would cut AT-ATs to ribbons. Wedge Antilles (yes, he's an ace, but he relates it in a hardware vs. hardware manner) relates what combat with them is like in comparison with how it was in a Speeder.

Out of the hangars trotted a quartet of AT-ATs, the Imperial walker units that had wrought so much havoc at Hoth. They moved quickly, not looking as cumbersome and slow in the light snow as they had on Hoth's icefields. Back then we were in airspeeders-undergunned and overmatched. A smile slowly twisted his lips. Not the case this time.

(...)

He nudged the aiming reticle over the walker's head and pulled the trigger.
A stuttered quartet of bolts hit the walker. Two glanced off, leaving long scars on its forehead, but the other two pierced the transparisteel viewports on the pilot's compartment. Fire exploded back out, and the walker slowly started to sag forward. Its chin slammed into the ground, and then the body's weight snapped its neck.
"Easier ways to decap it, Wedge."

Slow, lumbering targets with nothing but forward arc lasers and no maneuverability.

They didn't do a lot of pitching back and forth, no turns, just a few mild maneuvers.

That would be because they had no red hot laser bolts bearing down on their ass from determined X-Wings and A-Wings.

That all sounds good and sounds like you all will have a great time with all that. so enjoy :) and Not to be a nay sayer but I will have to pass. I love the current game and the capital ships coming will be a great addition, However I am not a big fan of ground based warfare. I like keeping it to space I do hope to see you all playing this ground wars for star wars as I will be entertained by watching it all. but I think I will keep to the galaxy and leave the planet fights to you masters. :D
