I'd like some ideas on would be an ideal build for an Avenger class (I am in love with the class background and history for some reason).

Initially I wanted to have it like this:

But then I started to wonder if the ship wouldn't be too vulnerable while in course to perform a boarding as it is very slow and has no frontal arch guns.

So, now I am wondering if I should go for a more focused heavy hitting/armored ship as it was initially intended to be. But still, I'd like to keep some of its boarding capabilities (although I am unsure about if it's worth it).

Ideas please!

Edit: the ship has Finance in Arrears, Angevin Crusade Veteran and Wrothful traits.

Perhaps make it Stoic or Resolute? These can give it some ability to shrug off the worst of enemy hits, either by more HP or ignoring component loss. That prow gives pretty **** good frontal armor, and the ship was built to take hits, and ram. That plus the numerous void shields seems pretty fine.

I like to think that, if you were flying straight at a target, and their side was to you, hence you could ram and board them, then you need to worry about their firepower, but their size might hedge some other ships from firing at your nose, and those ships would then have to move into your side arcs, where your broadsides could mince them up. Fighters can also intercept some of the threats your nose might face.

The Signal Array makes you a bit easier to hit, and the bridge choice is confusing. If you will have other ships of yours around, all fine, and these ships hail from the Cruiser Squadron days, but if it is alone, and other ships won't be there to round out its few flaws, the Flight Command Bridge, for your fighters, or something else, might be more advised.

After I look through my stuff, the only other "fitting" bridge would've been the Command Bridge, so I suppose the confusion is withdrawn. No mention of the fleet was the big throw. What seems sort of a given for an Imperial Navy vessel isn't always so certain in a Rogue Trader's one-ship fleet. Then yeah, stick with that bridge. Might still be a bit leery on that sensor set, though.

I'd drop this bridge and retro-thrusters for a ship master bridge and barracks. You've got 4 broadsides so bonus +10 BS is cool also buffing pilot and navigator test should compensate retro-thursters. Barracks are quite obvious.

Or exchange all broadsides for landing bays with lots of assault craft (my favourite;) ) and keep the fleet-flag.

My plan is to as soon as the dinasty has the resources to get it, is to find a nice carrier. (most likely a light cruiser)

So the Fleet flag bridge would be best on the "long run" - and I don't have the SP for the ship master bridge atm. Hmmm although the ship master bridge makes more sense for such class and even for my RT's background (he is tremendously attached to the ship, having lived his entire life in it and gained the Warrant - he is the first of his line - through having faith and love in it). That BS bonus also sounds awesome.

Also, note I took out the barracks so I could use the SP for the Plasma broadsides who are much harder to find.

Fleet flag is definitly the best for a long run, but at the moment there's no fleet to command - thats why I suggested to swith broadsides for landing bays.

If you got problems with SP remember about poor quality stuff - you got enough free space and power to handle them.

I think Fleet Flag Bridges are fine, not all ships are built to be perfectly optimized to a player's ideal. Maybe when it was laid down it was designed for fleet operations, and still is.

Thanks for all the feedbacks guys! I will look into the Poor components costs. I think in the end I will most likely go with the Ship Master Bridge but I didn't decide yet.

I would hold off on using Poor Components to stay within your limit. Morale penalties are not THAT terrible, and they're not the same thing as a component falling into disuse with age, it's that when the ship was laid out there were some serious cost-cutting measures on those parts of the vessel. It doesn't seem to jive with your idea of a future fleet flag ship if there are terrible looking parts for it, especially if their existence is just to stay within an SP cost.
