spin on the 3 rebel build

Jan Ors

-ion turret

-squad leader

Wedge

-expose

-r2 asrtomech droid

Biggs

-r2f2

-stealth

This was a quirky combo that just popped into my head.

Jan gives biggs the focus action he needs to combo r2f2 and stealth.

Jan Gives wedge a 5/6 dice attack combo with expose while he sits behind wedge. Go maybe just tl first shot then go all out with 6 dice range 1 with minus 1 agi for the enemy. Regardless constantly shooting with +1 helps since wedge does his thing.

Ion cannon is there for the setup or to annoy swarm fighters.

intersting idea. cool use of expose. once biggs gets taken out whats ur plan?

Continue to use expose for as long as possible. However hitting with the ion turret will be easier as there will be no one to squad lead. Ideally if I can get kill 3 ships before biggs goes down I am in a good position to win

Just one thought

With Jan using squad leader to give Biggs a focus action, that leaves Wedge using expose by itself, which as I recall has been mathematically shown to be inferior to just firing 3 dice normally with a focus or target lock

Your math is correct. Only problem is that squad leader passes off an action to a lower PS pilot. Jan is 8, Wedge is 9.

As long as we're talking about math - a TL + Focus is still better than Expose + TL or Focus. Though there is something lost in the math when it comes to what's rolling 6 hits worth at a lower rate than rolling 5 at a higher frequency.

Sadly, there doesn't appear to be a way to get Wedge Expose, Focus, TL and Jan every turn at 100 points. (Wedge, Expose and Jan cost 60, leaving you 40 points to come up with the remaining 2 actions. Dutch is the easiest way to take care of the TL, but costs 23, leaving you 17 points for a focus. And there's no way to get that.)

As soon as imperial aces comes out, you should be able to put opportunist on Wedge which allows a target lock + the extra die - it won't always pay off as your opponent could just focus everything in his list, but I suspect that sometimes they may need to barrel roll, Target lock, etc. Until that time, I think you're really best off with Push the Limits on Wedge.

I actually won our weekly tournament with this week with those three pilots. My build was a little different however:

Wedge:

PtL + Engine Modification

Biggs:

R2D2 + Shield Upgrade

Jan:

Ion Turret + Nien Numb

First things first: Attacking with Target Lock + Focus is one of the most powerful moves in the game. It's why homing missiles are so good. It's why HLC + FCS Bs are good. It's why PtL is arguably the best Elite Pilot card. Taking two actions in one turn is ridiculously powerful. The shield upgrade + R2D2 let Biggs last just long enough to let Wedge really cause some havoc. Engine upgrade on Wedge allows him to close in to range 1 while flying in formation with Biggs. After Biggs dies, the engine upgrade allows him the maneuverability needed to get out of arc of focus fire and stay mobile.

The bad: You're going to be flying in formation for most of the battle. There's not much room here for fancy flying. I almost lost the final match to a well timed proton bomb. Also, if someone donks into Biggs, they'll be able to attack wedge.

This is just another list that exploits how AMAZING of a piece Jan really is.

I tried almost this exact squad last week and did pretty well, but lost narrowly.

It was against a swarm of six and getting bumped was the issue. So i decided to try and up the firepower spread a little and tried a qyick game against a wedge, luke ibitisam squad, my opponent conceeded after he lost two ships in the second round of combat.

I Shall be testing it again tonight.

Jan- mouldy, blaster, squad leader

Wedge- swarm tactics, stealth

Biggs- r2f2, stealth

99pts

I wanted initiative and it really helped but there is room for niem numb or other adjustments.

He rushed forward and started combat very quickly but doing a 1 straight with everyone Jan already had a stack of focuses before having to give Biggs an action

I've come to the exact opposite conclusion every time I've tried Jan - Jan is so expensive that you're almost always better off bringing Wedge or Chewie in her place, and she eats a missile so often and so early that she is dead before she can offer up lots of extra hits. I may have to give a Biggs a shot w/ Jan because that's one combo I haven't tried yet.

As was said; it's an interesting twist, but PTL would give Wedge more all-round versatility. Using TL + Focus on his attacks is going to generally yield better results than an extra attack die would. And it'll serve him better to throw in a little defense as needed when Biggs goes down.

Tried rhis again but with recon on jan and no stealth on wedge.

Was again pretty successful.

I admit once Biggs dies it really does fall appart a bit.

To talk about putting chewie in for Jan as was suggested you really need the SqL to keep Biggs alive and I have found that all my opponents have had to try and get in close to kill him which helps me with only range 2 on jan.

Also I find it easier to fly formation and switch position without a big ship.

With a big ship people can shoot one side of it without having to target biggs.

Finally, simply that jan has pilot 8 for shooting.
