Rebel Tanking Build

By Englishpete, in X-Wing

I am going to try this later this week. A question in another post got me thinking and I like this idea. Ion cannons put ships out of the fight whilst the B-Wings chew up the others. It might just be fun and viable.

You are still running 4 1agi ships. While the concept is good I dont see it lasting long via lack of firepower

Also consider two gold squadron pilots with ion turrets and two blue squadron B-wings with ion cannons and fire control systems

You are still running 4 ships with 1 agility each, but with four ion cannons you may be able to make up for it with your ability to disrupt the enemy's formation with ion shots. B-wings help make up for the y-wing's lack of firepower, especially with fire control system

I've yet to lose with 2x Gold Squadron Pilot w/ Ion Cannon Turret and 2x BLue Squadron Pilot with Autoblaster Cannon

More HP than dual-falcons or swarms, which are recognized good teams

More firepower than dual-falcons

More maneuverability than dual-falcons

More board control than swarms

More heavy hitters than swarms

Flying it well, it's more than possible to let one ship take a beating, then peel off and let another ship take a beating, while still having both ships survive. I can do that all game against every team I've run up against with them

Sound really good, think I'm going to have to try this list myself. I take it that the Ion Turrets make it a little easier getting shots off with Autoblaster as you know where your opponent will be.

I like the idea of the Autoblaster in this case. The loss of 2 Pilot Skill may not be as significant as the gain from the Autoblasters. I shall fly both and see which I like more :-)

having everything move on the same PS is amazing for this build, as you can move things out of the way to ensure actions, you don't have to worry about what's in front or what's in back, and you can prioritize your firing a little better. For example, shoot with a B-wing first to strip evade tokens, then hit with the ion cannon. Next round shoot with the ion first to stripe evade tokens, then light them up with the Autoblaster

I have modified the build to be all PS2 Pilots, now I have 2 variants, one where everyone has an Ion weapon and one where the B's have Autoblasters.

We shall see which I like more :-)

My (untested) variant on this:

2 Daggers with Advanced Sensors

2 Golds with Ion Cannon

Trading the autoblasters for enhanced maneuverability to help you stay out of arcs.

Not sure yet if it's an improvement but I plan to give it a shot.
