Specialization Skills

By Endrek03, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey guys,

So my Smuggler player spent 30 Experience to buy his second Talent Tree in the Colonist career as Politico. (20 exp as it is his second Talent Tree, +10 because it is cross-Career, correct?)

Now the question is . . . does he gain the Colonist Skills as well? Or does he merely gain the Politico Specialization Skills?

The book is INCREDIBLY vague and can be interpreted either way.

Only the Politico, at least that's how I understand it.

Yes. I understand it as whafrog. Only specialisation skills, as you're adding a specialisation, not a career.

Yeah, that's how I read it. Of course, my player would argue otherwise, but really the paragraph that covers this is vague in such a manner that makes it difficult to discern which is correct.

This was clarified by the devs in the Order 66 Podcast. Each specialization adds that specialization's list of 4 bonus class skills to the character's class skill list.

I agree there are a lot of areas were the book is vague. However, page 93 on this issues very clear. It states each specialization has career skill and those skills now become career skills, but you do not get free advances in them like you did with your first specialization. There is no reason to mention anything about the career skills because you are adding a new specialization NOT a career. You never add or change you base Career so that is why they don't need to talk about cross specialization base career skill at all.
