Miniature showcase/ transporter (big pictures alert)

By straetski, in X-Wing

Hoi,

A friend of mine has his own laser-cutter thingy and when we were doing an X-wing after action report over some beer, we wondered how cool a miniature carrying case in the form of a capital ship hangar-bay would be. Some time later he came up with this Rebel Alliance showcase seen below. An Imperial hangar will follow but we're not sure what shape to choose.

The models are fixed into holes in the floor with their plastic rods.

The paint-job is mine so complaints to yours truly ;-) The finished product will feature some clear-blue acrylic plastic in the, detachable, roof and windows and has a pop-out drawer for tokens etc.

Hope you like it!

This is super cool. Are there little pegs for the ships to plug on to?

Awesome!!!! Would love to have one in my new game room/area!

No there are holes in the flooring in which you insert the flight stand pegs.

This is amazing. you do great work.

Did you cut the wings on the b wing I take it to have it sit flat? Awesome job!

The s-foils on the b-wing were indeed put into flight mode and the cockpit has been rotated accordingly. But honesty demands me to mention that both the fighters and the conversions are my friends. I just did the painting and the posters on the hangar-bay.

I do, as others I have heard, wish they would have made it able to rotate but would probably cost more for development. Nice detail in this wave still.

Holy crap that is awesome.

Great job!

this was a good idea, it looks awesome! Great job!

That is indescribably beautiful! A great idea wonderfully executed.

Gonna market it?

That's awesome. If only the S-foils on the X-wings could close too. Would look great with some technicians and pilots running about.

I keep throwing money at the screen and nothing happens!!

A real masterpiece. The B-Wing mod made it go over the top.

lol.... I Just noticed the recruitment posters on the back wall...Too sweet....My wife wanted to know where are the miniature toilets ; the pilots have to go somewhere...Don't they ? ...Never give up , Never surrender...

Out of curiosity, is the A-wing a minor repaint? I happened to notice the yellow triangles on the hull.

Epic!

This is crazy amazing! I thank you for sharing dear sir.

The y wings are red as well instead of yellow.

What's the big deal? Looks like a miniature of my garage?

Just kidding! Very, very creative. Nice work on the paint especially.

Dear Sirs, we are overwhelmed by the amount of nice comments on this topic thanks you for this! I'll try to answer the questions put forward in order of appearance:

- Veritechc: by all means! I'm a "liker" of your FB page so no worries.

- at the moment we're not sure about marketing the hangar, if we do it would be rather a largish, unassembled and unpainted model kit in MDF. Kinda depends on demand I guess...

- meekor: the toilets are just around the corner ;-) No seriously: I had no idea just how much detail you are able to get with a laser like this.

- Some of the mini's have indeed been re-painted ever so slightly. I touched up the A-wing and some of the X-wings. The Y-wings have just got their cockpits and stripes re-done the rest is out of the box issue.

Again thanks for all the comments and when I have pictures which include the acrylic windows I'll be sure to put them up here.

Holy crap that is awesome.
