Able to kill multiple ships and they still have all their shields?

By Bjorn Rockfist, in X-Wing

Sorry if this has been pointed out before, but my group had this discussion the other day.

Per the "Bomb Tokens Reference Cars #2"

Proton Bomb Token - When this bomb token detonates, deal 1 faceup Damage card to each ship at Range 1 of the token. Then discard this token.

So basically if you dropped say 3 close to each other and when the detonated there were 3 undamaged x-wing within Range 1. Would they all be gone even though they still have full shields? Or would their shields take the first 2 faceup cards? It doesn't say "suffers" like the Seismic Charge, It says "deal".

I have looked in both the rulebook and the FAQ and there is nothing really covering this. Has there already been a ruling on this from FFG?

Shields only stop damage, and no damage is being caused here. The card is just being dealt.

That is what I thought.

Shield generator is built into the hull, no hull, no shields. Checkmate, rebel scum

Man, don't you wish Maarek Steele could carry bombs now?

Maareks ability states when your attack courses a face up damage card. I don't believe this is considered an attack. So visibility I don't think would work with this. But that's just how I'm reading the cards, since he can't hold one it's pointless

You're right, it's not an attack. I didn't look at the cards either.

Does the Darth Vader co-pilot "Suffer" a crit, or does it deal one?

Crewman Vader deals critical damage instead of dealing a faceup card. This does make him a big harder to use well against a shielded ship and why you want to take down shields before using him if possible.

Funny part is Maarek actually flew a TIE Bomber, and very well, in the EU media.
