Looped Music

By Naglareph, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was wondering if any of you had an easy way to loop samples of Star Wars music?

Or even a playlist of some sorts? I'd like to listen to some specific moments of star wars music when playing EotE. But i don't have the time to make them myself and was wondering if any of you had any?

Thanks!

I've been working on my own and I agree, it takes some time. Seems like a good task for Spotify.

I haven't used music for EOTE but when my wife and I play X-Wing Miniatures at home I just use Spotify through our Apple TV, so it plays on our main stereo system.

I queue up a playlist with one or more John Williams soundtracks and let it rip!

Looping's not usually an issue for X-Wing because a game tends to be about one soundtrack length, but it's easy to loop playlists.

I have the soundtrack albums on my iPad and play them, cutting to appropriate tracks when needed, although mostly we just let it play as background.

What I really want are sound effects that will play in iTunes/iPad. Blasters, light sabers, starships, etc.

I love using music in my PbP - regularly linking the group to youtube music samples, both instrumental and fitting, and taken from the Star Wars albums.

I really enjoy looped music and its hard to find stuff that fits the mood for Starwars.

Audacity is a free open source audio editing software thats actually pretty easy to use. Great for cropping to make a loop song and even editing amplitude (volume) of songs.

My favorites are

'Into the trap' (Return of the Jedi fleet battle)

'The Droid Battle' & 'The Droid Invasion' (for ground encounters)

Also if you have decent soundcard you can use audacity to record anything your computer is playing, so you can capture audio from youtube or any website/program. So you can find tracks for all sorts of older Starwars titles like Knights of the Old Republic etc. Although the soundtrack to the MMO the Old Republic is freely available for download from Bioware, I found that it was pretty bad and not 1 usable song really.

I typically try to stay away from choir type songs like Duel of Fates, or play the no choir version. There is some stuff from Soundtrack band, Two Steps from Hell, that is vaguely Starwars'que that might work as well.

Yeah i have been using two steps from hell quite a lot, it's kinda catchy.

But I think i'll look into the music of Jedi Academy (Jedi Knight 3) or something. It has great looped soundtracks.

I am very sorry for double posting. But a question came to my mind.
Do any of you have a software that could stream music to a group of players? Something like a shared playlist or a radio between a small group of people?

I'm a huge fan of groups like 'Two Steps From Hell' and 'Immediate Music' - I've probably used more of their music in my games than any of the official soundtracks.

I do this as well, but I also add in tracks from The Old Republic MMO and the Shadows of the Empire video games. There are some quality pieces in there worth using like Beggar's Canyon chase piece from SotE, and Coruscant, The Capital, from SW:TOR

Are you referring to doing this with an online group?

The SWTOR and KOTOR 1 and 2 soundtracks make excellent background music.

In my PbP, I've just been linking players to youtube musics, or embedding them at the end/top of the post.

In my group we use the written chat in Skype, so I was just looking for a streamer of somekind for all the users.
