I recently moved to Madison and finally have a day off where I can decompress. I've heard that I'm Board in Middleton has a pretty solid xwing group. Is that true or do people go to one of the other stores mostly? Also is there any game store on the east side of town?
Madison, Wi
Welcome to the area. I'm Board does have a solid group. We hold tournment's on the 3rd Saturday at 5 pm every month. With the other Saturday's being casual game days. But to be honest attendance on those other Saturday's is low. Usually if we want to play we message between the group or post in this thread to meet up. There was a store on the East side of Madison I was running events at as well but due to family things I haven't ran a event there since November. I was just stretching myself to thin also and needed to slow down a bit.
Special rules
Destroyed ships become debris markers. I will provide additional markers for this event

Like was mentioned already, if you are looking for a game or two just post here or there is a facebook group, and someone will usually respond

A few other players, including myself, have been talking about holding a Battle For The Imperial Raider event. Basically the players in attendance each contribute a equal amount of $ to purchase a Imperial Raider and we use the IR as prize support. I've come up with two different ways to award prizes.
A. The winner gets a sealed Imperial Raider.
Or
B. We split up the components if the Imperial Raider. This is just a rough draft. The winner would get first pick of what they want and so on.
1. Ship model and dial
2. Pilot cards and pilot bases
3. Tie Advance title card x4
4. Emperor Palpatine crew upgrade
5. Imperial Raider and Epic Play components
Since the full box has not yet been spoiled the list could change. But it seems pretty good as is. At this point I'm just trying to see if there is interest in holding a event like this. At this time I have 4 people interested.
We held similar events for the transport and corvette last summer in Appleton. We had a nice enough turnout for each that we only charged $10. It was enough for the winner to take home the ship with additional store credit prizes for 2nd and 3rd.
I'm Board Games and Family Fun decided to switch the day that X-Wing tournament will be held on. X-wing Tournaments will be run on the 1st Friday of every month starting at 5:30 pm. This month is short notice, sorry for that.

I'm looking forward to these, I'm glad Madison finally has a place running league kit events regularly.

I've actually been putting together events here in the madison/Middleton area for about 2+ years now. I'm Board wasn't able to host an event in July because they had Regional events for other FFG games going on during that time. hope to see you there on Friday.
Edited by tk426Are there any places hosting x-wing tournaments on Saturdays in the Milwaukee/Madison area? Friday evenings just don't allow enough time to get there for my work schedule.
My sentiment exactly, I'm Board in Middleton used to run monthly tournaments Saturdays at 5:00 then for some odd reason changed them to Fridays at 5:30 which is tough to make it out there at that time.
As krohnt pointed out I'm Board no longer holds tournaments on Saturdays. It has been switched to Friday's with the following format. While this system will be the new structure at I'm Board it will still be possible to hold a tournament once in a while. When I find out more info I'll pass it on.
Tomorrow 8-14-2015 we're rolling out a new Flight Path Friday system, in addition to your regular casual play! You now have the option to join the FLEET CAPTAIN CLUB to earn promos and prizes! Joining the Club is totally optional, but only Fleet Captains will earn cool swag! Come out any Friday to play your favorite Flight Path games like Armada, X-Wing and D&D/Star Trek Attack Wing. Games start at 6:00 every Friday.
The following applies to Fleet Captain Club members:
> You can join the Fleet Captain Club for only $5. You will receive a games record sheet, which we use to keep track of your games. Game record sheets will be stored at I'm Board!
> You will receive a game promo each Friday you come out to play.
> Up to two of your matches will be recorded on your sheet and added to your player score. Every game earns you 1 point. If you win, you get 2 points. Win both of your matches and you get 4 points! Once your record sheet has 12 points, you can turn it in for one of the premium items from your game's prize kit.
> You opponents can be either Fleet Captain Club members or non-members. Just make sure you show off those exclusive goodies!
> Player scores reset on an individual basis. Once you complete your sheet, you can start over (with a fresh $5 entry) to get a new sheet and earn more prizes.
> Whenever possible, you must play against an opponent you have played against the least number of times on your current sheet. Example, if you've played Tom 3 times already and Mary only once, you should play a game with Mary next. Of course, this may be affected by available opponents at the store.
> Armada is much longer game, so Armada players only need 6 points to complete their record sheet, and only 1 match per Friday counts toward this.
Sounds great except the date. Do you post on I'm board's website for the not as often Saturday tournaments? League would be great, but that is more conducive to a kid-less non-married local. Which I am none of.
In the past when there was a scheduled tournament I've posted that information on this forum and or on some Facebook group pages. I will continue to post actual tournament given the opportunity from I'm Board to do so.
Notyourfather, I wouldn't rely on I'm Board's website for accurate info. They don't update it very well from what I have seen. They do have a facebook page however that they update pretty regularly.
Thank you!
I've got the next event planned at I'm Board Games and Family Fun
100pt squad
September 19th
3pm start
$5 entry
Please have squads ready for start time.
Two questions. 1st, when is the tournament? I'm Board's website says it's at 1PM, not 3PM. Second is the new Force Awakens tournament legal?
Two questions. 1st, when is the tournament? I'm Board's website says it's at 1PM, not 3PM. Second is the new Force Awakens tournament legal?
1. When I set up the event it was set for 3pm. Something must have changed on there end and they needed to push it back to 1 pm. The person I need to talk to hasn't been in to work to ask why it changed. I'll have a answer by Friday night.
2. Yes the new Star Wars Force Awakens core set is legal
So the start time for the event next Saturday 19th at I'm Board has been changed to 1pm.
2. Yes the new Star Wars Force Awakens core set is legal
Is the new Damage deck required or is the old one still legal as well?
The rules state you play the new deck if you have it. As of 1/1/16 the old deck is no longer legal.
Now that I look, page 4 of the tournament rules indicates, "Until Januaray 1st 2016, players must use the original damage deck. Starting January 1st, 2016, players are required to use the Force Awakens core set damage deck."
You cannot use the new damage deck even if you have it.
Is the new Damage deck required or is the old one still legal as well?2. Yes the new Star Wars Force Awakens core set is legal
As krohnt pointed out the new damage deck is not legal until 1-1-2016. But the rest of the core set is. But yet the new damage deck is required for Worlds in early November. And if your going to worlds and don't have a new damage deck apparently everyone in attendance for x-wing will get one.
