Hi im new to the game and after discovering i can play my favorite characters in a pretty decent card game I would like to try to build a Dan deck. Now I have Dan and I'm using him in my Sakura deck, but I plan on making a completely separate deck for him. My question is While I like casual play, but can a Dan deck be competitive?

Ok what version of dan is that? the one I have is the two dot one, are they the same? sorry im really new to this! Now is everything that you listed from the street fighter packs or are they mixed?

i bolded where the non-SF cards are from. the rest are in set 8 (domination) or in other SF sets afterwards

dan1 will rotate in a month, so use the 2 dot one.

yes, it is a bit similar to mtg's system. instead of t1, t2, etc. they go by blocks. right now they are on block 3. cards with a 4 point shuriken are in block 3.

Well as for promos, im pretty sure they are given out to tournament organizers as prizes. Id assume that cardselling sites would have some of the promos for sale. As for boxtoppers, when ever you, or the store, get a box, be it a starter box or a booster box, they come with one unique card not found in the set.
Usually when people list a UFS character card they use asterisks (*) or colons (
to denote the number of dots.
Lord of the Makai is very hard to find these days. A good substitute that's from Street Fighter is White Gi. Still very rare, but often easier to find.
