So I have been told you cannot win with a Lambda. I present to you the Lambda, Lambda, Lambda, Lambda quad formation: 4 Omicrons w/ anti-pursuit lasers and fire control systems, 100 points. My opponent ran Dagger squadron B Wings with unknown load out and HWK290 set up to accumulate and hand out focus tokens.

We kept the standard tournament set up. I would have preferred more space and be able to deploy in more of a block formation. A 3'x3' table with asteroids leave little room for maneuvering a quad of shuttles. Just plan to smack into every asteroid on the table (twice).

2 shuttles bank hard to starboard while the others remain stationary setting up the rebels in the kill zone.

Good thing anti-pursuit lasers don't shoot your own! This was thanks to getting ion'd and lack of maneuverability. regardless, then there were two rebels left as one B wing got vaporized by focused fire of the shuttles over 2 turns.

Mid to late game it was choir to not have shuttles land on asteroids. I tended to have only 2 shuttles on target at a time due to hitting rocks or positioning. But I continued to concentrate fire on the heavy hitting B wings.

Uno! And then there were no B wings.

And then there were none! In the end only one shuttle sustained actual hull damage, and that was caused by an asteroid.

Lamda shuttle cannot win, you heard it on the internet so it must be true. They cannot post anything on the internet that is not true. Bonjour!

I feel that when people say lambda shuttle lists cannot win, its more of a 'this list is not op, dont expect to steamroll anyone and everyone with it' than an actual 'the list actually sucks' type comment. Same thing with comments regarding 3 b wing builds.

With that said, good battle report, that looks like a pain to fly

Maneuvering is your biggest challenge, between the restrictive dial, limited space, obstructions, other vessels... after that it's all gravy.

The odd thing would be that with all of those shuttles getting in each others way one really needs to wonder how well that "get behind them" tactic is going to work.

I only have one shuttle and the look of disgust on my usual opponents face when I I flew a second cardbord one last week.

Indeed, there was no getting behind them. This tactic would be even more useful on larger or less cluttered boards. As I said prior, a box formation would be best.

FC was extremely helpful and responsible for most of the damage inflicted.

They still look naf maneuvering with folded wings!

Had the pilots been concerned, they would have deployed the wings.

I'm definitely intrigued by the 4x Lambda list. Anything w/ 40 hp to chew through is going to have plenty of good matchups.

That being said I'm not exactly jazzed about the list it faced in this example. I don't think Kyle Katatn handing out focus to the B-wings does anything earth shattering. I'm also not sure the ion cannon was the right choice for him. Given that the Lambdas take 2 ion tokens to drift it seems like a lot of wasted dice to get 1 ship ionized.

The squad I posted earlier w/ the 2 blue w/ HLC + 2 rookies would be able to roll a lot more dice but I don't know if they could take the Lambdas down fast enough. It seems that if you could focus on 1 Lambda, punch a hole in their formation then barrel through and k-turn on them you could do some nasty damage on them before they can turn around.

Nope. Will it be the new tournament list? Nope. But it is not the paper tiger that some purpose it to be. Was 4 Lambda's fun? Yes

I'm not sold yet on single shuttles in Imperial list, I would rather spend those points on more ships for a swarm. I prefer the Lamda for more scenario driven play. But as we have seen, 4 Lambda's can definitely ruin someone's day and are not the lost cause as many here portray them to be.

It looks like your opponent sent his B-Wings straight at the middle of your block and into all four firing arcs, then made a 90 degree turn to end up with you behind him. The deeds here do not contradict the words "I will just outmaneuver and be on your tail" since you're opponent fed his squadron to you and then his/her fear of APLs cause a crucial maneuvering error. I wonder if a split formation would have bee more effective against your block.

Just try some actual games vs multi-shuttle lists, I think many will find outmaneuvering (while certainly possible) is not always the given that some people may expect.
