You come across Tie Droid cards, please share. IMO, they should suffer no stress, have 2 attack, 2 agility, and 2 hull.
shapeways turbo laser turrets
Just Google Search X-Wing card generator and look for the listing by Jason Fuller. Make cards to your hearts content.
That generator doesn't work well on my platform.
It works best under Chrome I have found.
For the towers strong white and flexible seems to work just fine. Unfortunately there is no way to make them cheaper as the Shapeways cost is based on amount and type of material used. and what amounts to an elongated cube is going to use a lot of material even if hollowed out to the minimum safe wall thickness. Detail materials would make a thinner wall posible but they cost more so it would negate any savings
Gosric, good to see you here. Thanks for working on those Tie wings.
These ones are awesome and much cheaper than Shapeways:

Check it out. Cast Resin, with moveable parts.
I bought three sets of these. Very nice, especially for the price.
I'd hoped to get them painted this weekend, but I had other things going on. Just the same, $16 for two towers is hard to beat!
Does anyone have photos of these in their finished model form?

They look really awesome!
SWF seems a decent medium for the towers, but do have that 'fuzzy' look to them.. and it's hard to hide the effect. That will also keep the price lower.. I havenordered UD material and like the smoother look much better. After a recent message exchange with Gosric I understand better their pricing and cost.. one of these days I'll be able to afford a few of these and the short versions.. then use them when I can..
Also wanted to add, the designs are awesome
Thank you for that. If ever i get my own 3d printer there will be a sudden huge price drop *L* But that is a way off.
To Viceroy Bolda - No problem, did you get the image i sent you?.
Hazard Pay - I will be ordering a couple soon, and will take pics then but they were a request rather than something i made for myself so i dont have any images of the actual model yet. I have had positive reviews but i know that isnt really helpful *L*
Gosric
Thanks. It's quite the lovely model.
I didn't care for the Avenger's looks back in the Lucasarts game...
But Ansel's render on fractalsponge and your model have changed my opinion.
It's a sexy beast.
i wasnt overly fond of it either but found myself liking it a lot more as i built it. i think the version with the weird oval cockpit threw me off. i was definitely not a fan of that

Yes sir. You are a talented guy. I know that there are a few of us here who are interested in the Tie-wing.
Thanks for your help. That is going to be so cool in the game.
I just have a little more detailing to finish and it will be available.Day after tomorrow at the latest i think.
Edited since i just finished it.
I tried to give some sense of functionality with auxiliary power generators and external detailing rather than just slapping Y thrusters on a TIE which i am not sure would actually work *L* If you approve of it i can make it available as soon as the STL file conversion is complete.
I left off some of the external detailing on the Y engines though, since according to the cross sections book, much of it was connected either internally or externally to the Y Wing main hull and would therefore be removed by whoever put them on the TIE body.

Thanks again for your fine work. I'm looking forward to a squad of these on my table.
My computer is slow so it takes a while to covert the files when it is a detailed model and right now is dedicated to converting 3 packs of the TIE Avenger and Tau missile boat. when they finally finish if you like, since you mentioned squads, i can make a 3 pack of the Y-TIE as well.
It ends up being a bit cheaper (for some reason even though the amount of material used is the same) to do fighters in 3 packs.Something about the way Shapeways calculates bulk i suppose
Thanks Gosric. Please let us know when we can order.
Done. All except the Tau class 3 pack and that is processing now. Glad you are happy with them
on the topic of turbo laser turret, if one would excuse the bit of over-size:
http://hightechtoyz.co.uk/index.php/missilelaunchers/storm-oic-missile-launcher.html
technically it's a rocket launcher, but with a bit of paint and modding on some details you could get a nice fully rotating turbolaser turret out of it. If you leave the rockets intact could still punish players who get out of line. ![]()
make a trench run with a few ran from a laptop and the rebels run away screaming
Gosric, Have you ever thought of creating a missile/torpedo turret or the quad laser turret (like on the CR-90)? Having some other surface options would be kinda cool.
