All three force powers

By jbronco, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I browsed the forum and couldn't find this answer so forgive me if it has already been covered.

If a PC creates a character and wants to use all three force powers,

  • does he need to have a force rating of 3 (force rating of 1+ or each power)
  • or does he use exp in the same fashion as you would to train different talent trees (exp x10 the number of trees you already have plus cost of new tree)
  • or just the cost of the base power to "unlock" the power

I believe that the powers are listed under two types Invested and active. by investing force die, they gain the listed benefits at all times (when applicable). The active powers are actions in their own right, and so you conld only "use" one active power at a time on any given action, but outside of Force Rating restrictions, you could have any number of invested powers active.

The Force Fating is only the requirement to purchase the power, so at FR 1 you could "buy in" to any Power "tree" that listed that as a requirement.

The Powers are not "trees" per se just a ... subsect of a Specialization? End result, you only need to spend 10xp per tree (no modifier) to gain the basic power. 30 xp total. (excluding the new powers listed in AoR)

You only need a FR of 1 to purchase any or all of the three powers (or any power with a minimum FR of 1 stated).

In order to use a Force Power, you need a Force Rating of 1+. That's the only prerequisite. In order to have a Force Rating, you need to take Force Sensative Exile (or Force Sensative Emergent, from Age of Rebellion). That spec is available for the special in-career cost. After that, each power costs the listed 10XP each.
