The Three Amigos ride a Shuttle

By phild0, in X-Wing

I am pretty knew to this game, but I've spent a lot of time on these forums seeking advice and finding popular strategies. I see why many strategies work well, and I understand what they have trouble against. Even with this knowledge, I am trying my darndest to make a shuttle + interceptor combo that doesn't suck, even if I always switch to something more competitve when I'm serious.. Alas, here is the best Ive got thus far. Tell me what you think or what you think will work better!

The Three Amigos ride a Shuttle

Captain Yorr

- Darth Vader (Hence the name)

- Gunner (or APL + another crew, probably saboteur or intel agent)

- Sensor Jammer

Soontir Fel

- PTL

- Stealth Device

Turr Phenirr

- PTL

- Stealth Device

The idea is to split up your interceptors and shuttle, doing your best to keep ints out of firing arcs and in range to pass of stress, until the shuttle ultimately dies from Vader ability and focus. Sensor jammer is to prevent some focus fire, or at least remove tokens so soontir and turr have easier shots. Hopefully the ints stay as close to alive as possible and the shuttle does enough damage that it will mostly be cleanup duty. You just CANNOT let your ints miss an action. Ive flown different derivations a few times and its pretty fun passing off stress on a k-turn just to give yourself 2 actions. That's anothee point, you dont always have to use Soontir's ability for that extra focus. The shuttle let's you decide when it is useful to do so. And really, the shuttle will probably die before uou really think about it.

I also just prefer Yorr with less total units. You get loaded up too fast otherwise and will never get to do action or red manuever.

Vader is only useful once shields are gone and Rebels are loaded with shields. Shuttle needs the Advanced Sensors so you can do a green bank followed by a red turn to have an viability in the game, otherwise just flight mostly straight until you go off the other end of the game area. Soontir and Turr are always solid, until you bump then they are done. The 3x B-Wing builds would wipe this group out in no time, that seems to be where the arms race is heading.

The problem I have with Yorr and running boost you are stuck deciding to use his ability, or actually turning to be effective. I find it is more useful to move your units into the shuttles path, forcing enemy to move into shuttles arc, rather than moving shuttle to enemies.

Also, I agree vader isnt as useful vs high shields (but then its soooo fun vs swarms), and I haven't gotten a chance to play against a loaded up 3 b-wing squad. What are the more popular 3 b-wing builds right now? I can think of a few, but don't know how effective.
