What are the chances we'll see charric blasters for the Chiss?
New species announced for Enter the Unknown.

Charric blasters could be cool, maybe it will be modification/template for ordinary blasters? Clawcraft seem unlikely due to the era.
At a guess Chiss will have a bonus to intellect and some automatic skills if they are being treated as a new species.
I wasn't planning on getting Enter the Unknown, but with the confirmation that there will be source material for Chiss. well..

It is really good to know that they are actually including a few new races with this book. I am VERY curious to know what sorts of other rules and guidelines they are going to present for exploration and perhaps race building.
Or am I simply hoping for too much?
So, 3 new races in Enter the Unknown, new races in AoR and 3 new races in Sons of Fortune. I guess "New Races sell source books" will prove true for many.
Personally, I think I'm going to pick up everything for EotE regardless as I adore the game system and setting. I got a copy of the AoR beta the other day, primarily for the new options/races/trees, but I don't know if I'm going to be buying more AoR stuff once it's eventually released as I prefer the style of missions that a group of fringers would go on.
This is the exactly reason why FFG was so smart breaking up the game into 3 compatible, but separate systems. I'm like you, I'll most likely skip most of AoR and get the core force book to be able to add that later.

My full plan is to completely skip out F&D as Jedi don't interest me or my group of players. However, by that time EotE should have plenty supplements and who knows, maybe AoR will have supplements that really grab my interest as well.
As for the inclusion of Toydarians as the third PC species in the book, I too think they're an odd duck for what is essentially the Explorer's sourcebook. Personally, I would have thought Shistavenans (the wolfman guy from the Cantina scene) would have been a better fit thematically.
Agreed that the Duros in this book will probably look pretty similar to the Duros in the AoR Beta, which to me says the species write-up in the Beta is probably "locked in" at this point.
I am curious to see the Chiss write-up and compare it to what I came up with. I could never shake the feeling that my version used in the Unofficial Species Menagerie was just a hair on the "too good" side of things, so it'll be interesting to see what the writers came up with.

I am actually very curious about the Toydarians simply to see how they handle hovering species.

Yeah. If they do put out a "Species Sourcebook," I bet it will be a LOT later after all the good ones are out already. It will be all the oddball stuff. Even the WEG Species book was after most of the stuff people wanted has been released elsewhere.
Chiss is good news... that means the only Race in my campaign that is not official is Cathar.

They're already pretty clear re: hovering in the EotE book (they mention Toydarians by name, which was probably the best indication that Toydarians were going to be the first).

How did you guys Pre-Order? I find nothing in the online store.
I'll be buying all the books probably, as I want to be able to run all sides of the Star Wars universe. (and I like reading the books)

I am trying the Miniature Market online store that has been recommended often on these forums. I pre-ordered from there.
I may try them too. I have Amazon Prime, but Amazon usually gets their stuff late.

At first I assumed there would be new races. They were/are following the Warhammer 40K lined releases. The "player’s options" book was a shoe in. But when they first announced the book, they didn't make any mention of new species, other then the Chiss being on the cover. Then I thought maybe I was wrong about the format. I'm glad to see I wasn't, however, they are breaking up the classes over 6 books (smart business decision), and thus instead of getting one players option, we will be getting 6 (at 30 bucks a pop, again smart business), and that's just for EtoE. Assuming they stick with the three new species per book, that's going to give up 18 more options (13 if they repeat all the AoR ones), not including the zone books like Suns of Fortune. As a species wh#re, I'm all for it, but my wallet is screaming like it was just prison raped.

I too, don’t have much use for F&D, and playing mostly cannon, am not going to be able to use most of it unless I dip into dark times. That said, I’ll still end up getting the books 1) because they say star wars on the cover, 2) because new species will be in them 3) because it would be kind of cool to have my EtoE groups run into some holocrons, and light sabers, and 4) I’m a completionist, it would eventually drive me OCD nuts to not have them. Technically speaking though, I have no players interested in jedis, or subclasses

The AoR species were pretty darn close. IMO. Yeah they were off a bit, but I’d bet it’s a lot closer then most would have gotten. Although I will be the first to admit, you should have seen bellow coming.
I would say your chiss probably needs to knock a point off wound threshold, and need a second skill or ability (seems they are making that a point), but other then that I don’t see you being off, from what I know of them.
Edited by ShamrockWell, it's too early to tell for sure, but I wonder if we'll see this pattern in future releases. That pattern being 1 original trilogy race (Duros), 1 prequel race (Toydarian), and one expanded universe race (Chiss).
I'm guessing there won't be any change from the Duros in the Age of Rebellion book, so cool.
I would actually be pretty disappointed if there was considering the systems are supposed to be plug and play. Whatever the final product is for AoR, assuming they don't change it in the beta, like they did with EtoE races. That said, I think the fact that the Duros will be in print already in Enter the Unknown, it seems highly unlikely that they would change it at all, from it's current state.
Tuco that would be awesome!
Hi all, been reading the forums for a bit now and realised i hadn't said anything yet.

Well hello SS22! Welcome aboard!
I may try them too. I have Amazon Prime, but Amazon usually gets their stuff late.
I used Paizo for Beyond the RIm which while didn't arrive as early as some of the others got it, did arrive a lot earlier in South Africa then any other online retailer I've used.
I'm using Paizo again for Enter the Unknown.
I totally forgot about Paizo. I used to buy from them all the time (map packs).
I already pre-ordered from Miniature Market this time around. Shipping is weird. Over $10 for the cheapest UPS, but only $6 for the Priority USPS.
Anyway, wow, there is going to be a lot of money spent on this game by the end. The only stuff I'm not buying are the GM Kits, Adventures, and Career Cards.

I ordered it from Amazon and usaly get my RPG stuff only one week later then the official release, and it much lower prices at that.
