X-Wing League Night at Madness - Plano, TX

By Hida77, in X-Wing Organized Play

So, before I left it was just Gazerfoxie and me. We played one game. I was Imperials vs his Rebels. He won the match, though it was fairly close there for a while.

I took 2 Lambdas and 2 TIE Bombers to his 4 A-Wings. I had several good shots lined up, but just couldn't hit. I'm going to have to rework the list a little and I have some ideas for it.

I will be there this Friday, normal time. Sable/Gazer, hopefully I will get a chance to meet you all =)

Couple of guys from FNM bought in on Firday and said they'd be there this weekend, so should have a full group.

NOTE: This is the last week for the current league! I will post details for next soon! Please feel free to keep coming Fridays, I know many people will be there, even during the holidays, I have no plans currently of changing the day!

I will continue to post here until after the new league starts, likely after the new year. Please feel free to post availability so others from the league can play with you!

I plan to be there this Friday, but Gazer has to work during that time. Doesn't sound like I'll hit the 7 game minimum, but I look forward to flying against new opponents. Gazer is starting to guess my moves more often than I'd like. :)

I plan on being there on Friday at 5. I've checked with my wife to make sure I have nothing planned that evening I forgot about like last week. Looking forward to meeting the new people!

Updated Glicko2 Ratings:

Rating RDist

Matt 1697 116

Justin 1660 131
Gazer 1635 255
Tony 1538 207
Jason 1432 139
Sable 1365 255
Corey 1365 256
Jordon 1279 255
Chris 1253 174

So essentially, if your RDist (ratings distribution) is above 150, it's probably an indicator that you did not play enough games.

I don't think I'll be able to make it next week as I should be at BGGCON (hopefully playing a 3D trench run!). The week after is the day after Turkey Day and likely can't make it then either. So I will try to make it on the 6th.

Hope to see ya'll tomorrow =)

I plan to be there. Have a few new lists to try. :)

Just confirming that I will be there at 5 tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

So, I was able to go 2-0 versus Matt, 0-1 versus Justin, and 1-0 versus Jeremy. I posted a quick recap of my shuttle experience in the Battle Reports subforum. Let me know if I made any mistakes in my recap or have anything else to add to it. :)

Edited by SableGryphon

I think the only mistake you made for my list was I had determination on Kyle and didn't have r2 Astromech on Horton. But spot on besides that. Good battle report!

Ill update the standings here in a bit.

Sorry for the delay!

CONGRATS TO:

Justin (JFitz) - Top Ace

Jason (s1n) - Most Games

Both got fancy new Acrylic Target Locks!

Don't worry, if you didn't get them this time, I have more to give out in the future! The prizes for the next league will be more plentiful given how the league has taken off. We started with basically 3-4 people and now have over 12! A great start!

Note also: I have confirmed that Madness applied for Store Championships! I assume they will be selected and we WILL run this if they are!

Please feel free to post availability here! I will start a new thread for the next league in the coming weeks and link to it. It will start after the holidays! Everyone have a good holiday if I do not see you until then!

My availability this week 11/25-12/1:

Monday - from 5pm until close

Tuesday - from 5pm until close

Wednesday - after around 3pm until Store close

Saturday - All Day

Sunday - All Day

I *MIGHT* be available some Friday after around 5pm, but thats extremely tentative for now given the holiday stuff I have going on.

Please let me know if you want to meet up to play X-Wing or literally anything else. I will likely be up at the store Sunday regardless

Edited by Hida77

I plan to be there this Friday at 5pm or so. Hopefully I'm not the only one there. :)

I can't be there today as I was there last night. Next week, I will be at BGGCON, so I won't be able to meet up on either day.

s1n, this is rym (from HS). Did BGGCON have anything to preview, or in the works, for X-Wing? (Not counting the transport or carrier they showed at Gencon, or the Imperial Aces expansion obviously).

Also, do you guys play every week, and if so, would it be okay if I were able to show up and play sometime. Given the distance, I couldn't make every week, but I would certainly love to come and play.

My availability varies based on my office's monthly shift bid.. I usually end up with evening or overnights, and try for sat/sun or sun/mon off

No, FFG was only showing off Diskwars, Eldrich Horror, and BattleLore 2nd Edition.

We played every week but one (week 3, two people showed up but at different times).

This weekend is a bit iffy. If my in-laws leave early on Friday, I can make it down. Otherwise, I won't be able to make it until next week. I should be there from about 3pm to 6pm tomorrow, but I'm playing it by ear.

I'm grateful for the target locks but since we have kiddo #2 here next month, I may not be able to attend much for the next round.

Here's the final Glicko Scores:

Rating RDist
Matthew 1742 246
Justin 1708 118
Sable 1680 194
Gazer 1635 255
Matt 1574 110
Tony 1538 208
Jason 1392 127
Corey 1365 256
Jordon 1279 256
Chris 1253 174

So the take away is that Justin was clearly the best with the highest score (high score and low rating deviation). However, those numbers are slightly misleading because we constantly added new players. So I would say that Justin clearly did the best and if Sable had shown up on week 1, he would have given Justin and Matt a run for their money.

I'm a numbers nerd and I love keeping track of stuff like this.

So what I will do is as we move on to League 2, I will keep track of an overall score and a current league score. Matt K, after you start the next league, if you could send me the matchups with the victor marked (I assume you write that down and tabulate it as you have), that would help out. That way, the more people play, the more accurate the overall scores eventually become.

As a note, I don't want these scores to take away from playing fun lists and games. If you don't want a game counted for that score, just let Matt K know and he can tell me so I don't tabulate them.

And you can also glean from those scores that I am terrible at this game. Save your laughter, I can't hear it over my own...

I can always go easy on you and fly a shuttle list.

I can always go easy on you and fly a shuttle list.

Considering how you wrecked 2 people who wrecked me, I doubt it'd be easy...

He's a beast with those shuttles. With luck I should be available this friday as well. will be able to share that pain

Gazer and I plan to be there early today, about 3:30, so if you aren't doing anything feel free to come join us.

So who plans on going this Friday? I will be there at 5 pm.

Barring something unexpected, I plan to be there about 5pm as well. :)
