I am trying i made it public and put it in a new album i am lost on all this why can't we just upload from here?

Don't have any idea. But yeah easiest is to create a Photobucket account. You can upload photos there and then click on a thing to copy a direct link to the image, which will then show the image here. Why it doesn't handle images directly here I do not know.

Instead of clicking share,

  1. click the down arrow on the right
2. sharing options
  3. share via link.

That makes it public.

Just setup a flickr account. It's a lot easier. Or photobucket.

They don't want to deal with image hosting on the forums. It's understandable really.

OK was granted access and able to go look. Ehhhh.
It's too many broken circles - the one Hexis had with the two circles is very clean and is straight out of the shield display from the video games, which makes it familiar to a lot of us. And the triangle in the middle doesn't scream "ship" or "shields" so there's nothing to give it context. I looked at it and it honestly took me a minute to remember what game element it was supposed to be a token FOR, and that's a bad sign.

like I said it is a generic can be modified I like the broken staggered look it is ok if not liked just a sample thanks.

I copied and uploaded yours so I could include that here for you.

I'm just saying I think the reason the broken circles worked on Hexis' design (even if I wasn't 100% on the shield icon) is that it very much screams "X-Wing Shields" to anyone who ever played the games. (Bottom left of HUD, below)

thank you wookie for getting that online for me. I guess I need to learn how to use picaso and flikr lol. I am behind the times on doing things on the computer lol. Anyways, I do understand what you are saying and I did not mean to take away from hexi's design. it was just an idea. I understand people like to identify with familiar icons. and hexis is doing a great job of creating these tokens for us. Maybe I was just getting too carried away with being able to have a say with the design process lol.

I should clarify a couple things quick - I was trying to do several things at once today and kind of crammed a couple of things together there. I wanted to throw your design up quick for everyone to see since you seemed to be having trouble with it and I knew that I could load it easily through my Photobucket. :D

And then I found a screenshot that showed the shield design Hexis had incorporated from the old games, so I tossed that on there while I was at it just to show where he had drawn the inspiration for his design from. Those were meant to be more two different thoughts that I tried to do while I was in a hurry, and not so much "THAT'S not a shield token - THIS is a shield token!" which I think is how it wound up coming across.

no worries wookie i never took it that way. and even if you meant it that way it is your right to do so :) i don't take things personally. i am just too old and too jaded to do that lol

Another thing to consider: the medium is laser engraving in acrylic. You don't have infinite detail to work with. You have to keep the details fairly simple. That many shield lines would get muddled. The two concentric circles are intended to echo the cockpit control, and also work in the acrylic itself. My final design goal is always engraved in the acrylic then painted a contrasting color. The engraved area has to be large enough to let the pain get in there and to be visible.

It's not quite as simple as it first looks. You also can't get too close to the edge because the cutting pass is different from the engraving pass, and the acrylic sheet tends to shift a bit apparently, so you have to leave some clearance.

Duly noted. And yes i do like your shield design. And i was just throwin an idea out there. I am no artist and definately have no clue about cutting and engraving acryllic. But i thanl wookie and hexis for thier feed back and help getting the image up for me. I am just grateful to be able to give input and feedback. So i am still waiting to see your target lock design. And how soon can we buy the other tokens u are working on?
