Hero kills a Hero

By Slev, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

This just came up in-game.

If a Hero kills a Hero, deliberately, who gains what conquest?

I may be being dumb here, but I can't find it anywhere...

Thx.

Pretty sure the OL gets the CT if a hero dies, no matter how they die. We've never had it come up, although one of my players did ask in our last session - not sure why.

The OL should get the conquest. I would treat it just like a Dark Charmed hero killing another hero. Although the question has me wondering about the situation where a hero killing another hero would be the best action.

Yes all that tasty conquest goes to the Overlord. Brandy is Dandy but Conquest is the best dish served cold! partido_risa.gif

If you want the actual rules reference, here's JitD Rules page 16:

"When a hero loses his last wound token, he is killed. The hero immediately moves to the town. If it was the hero’s turn, his turn immediately ends. The hero players then immediately lose a number of conquest tokens equal to the hero’s conquest rating. If this reduces their total to 0 or fewer conquest tokens, the game ends immediately and the overlord player wins. Otherwise, the game continues."

Rules don't care how the hero dies, the effects of dying are always the same.

Killing another hero (or yourself) intentionally could be useful as a desperate means of getting the hero back to town, or could happen unintentionally if the hero happens to be caught in an AoE attack or if you're trying to use Knockback as a form of transportation.

Of course, if you could prevent the OL from gaining conquest (or even gain conquest yourself) by killing your allies before he does, then it's not too hard to imagine situations in which that would be a good idea. I'm not sure why someone would think the game would work that way, though. Maybe you've been playing too many video games with buggy scoring rules...

OK guys, many thanks. I was right in my assertians it seems.
