What is your best 100pt squad using at least 2 tie-bombers?

I did ok, lost one tough game out of three with Jonus and 3 Scimitars. I'd say one of the best things is to put PTL and a Homing Missile on the Captain. :)

so what was ur list? assault missiles and concussion missiles on each scimitar? did u use PTL on Jonus or is that a recommendation. im leaning towards squad leader but i can see how ud want to go focus+target lock with him but i see him mainly as an offense booster for ur other bombers.

what did u lose to?

Some well flown B-wings and an X I think, maybe 3 blue + FCS and a Biggs?

I think I started with this, which was when I lost:

Jonus + PTL + Homing Missile + Stealth

Scimitar + Assault Missile + Seismic x2

Scimitar + Homing Missile

I dropped the stealth and downgraded the second Homing missile to cluster missiles and put a second cluster on Jonus, and that seemed a lot better since the first time I ran out of ordinance and couldn't quite seal the deal. So my actual list is

Jonus + PTL + Homing Missile + Cluster

Scimitar + Assault Missile + Seismic

Scimitar + Assault Missile

Scimitar + Cluster + Seismic

I think next time I'll drop the seismic charges and upgrade a cluster to homing and maybe keep under so I get initiative against other skill 2 pilots.

The mirror match would be very interesting. Another squad of interest would be;

Vader with Homing Missile

Mareek with Homing Missile and PtL

Rhymer with PtL and Proton Torp.

It is one less ship, but has the shooting edge. You should be a ship down after my opening salvo.

If I miss calculated by a point or so, I'd use concussion missiles over homing on Vader.

i think u have to play Captain Jonus to maximize the impact of your missiles. hes similar to running howlrunner in that the more missile carriers u have the better the overall impact is.

I know people would like to see the advanced fly with the bombers so heres two squads I hope to test this week. Reduced firepower a little but I have hopes.

Vader- assault- SqL

Jonus- concussion

Rhymer- homer- APT- adrenaline rush

Vader- homer- SqL

Gamma- assault- seismic

Rhymer- Ptl- APT- concussion

Doing more thinking on this, the more and more I keep coming back to wave 1 and 2 ships for the answer. X-Wings, specifically wedge and Luke with marksmanship and shield upgrades would do well against a 4 bomber list and dutch with an ion cannon and R5 would work too. I think there is enough points for 2 R2 units as well.

@BrownBomber. With Homing Missiles and Ptl/2 actions, Jonus isn't needed for the reroll. I need to do the points math, but I could see me taking him over Rhymer to get a third Homing Missile rather than a proton torp. I do like Rhymer for his PS8 though.

@nimdabew. I have used APT's on Wedge with Marksmanship, whilst expensive it is an absolute beast against a single ship. If used in conjunction with Jan Ors and Biggs it just gets downright nasty. It's another reason I like the Tie Advanced for 3 dice and shields. The APT will still hurt, but won't probably get a cripple or kill.

I used my list from the first page in this thread against a three X-Wing squadron yesterday.

I had:

3 Alpha Interceptors (3x18) = 54 pts

2 Scimitar Bombers (2x16) = 46

Proton Torpedoes (2x16)

Stealth Devices (2x3)

My opponent had:

Luke Skywalker (28)

R2-D2 (4)

Draw Their Fire (1)

Shield Upgrade (4)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

R2-F2 (3)

Stealth Device (3)

Wedge Antilles (29)

Push the Limit (3)

I sent two Interceptors rushing across the board, out of reach for the X-Wings, to take out Biggs as soon as possible.

The two Bombers and final Interceptor closed slowly with the rebel ships.

In the initial exchange I managed to take out Wedge's shields with one torpedo from one of the Bombers and destroy Biggs with my two front running Interceptors. In return I lost one of the Bombers before it could fire its torpedo.

Next I concentrated fire on Wedge and once he was done Luke proved no problem for my surviving three Interceptors.

The combined threat of two Bombers with torpedoes and the three attack dice of the Interceptors are fearsome as long as you keep you interceptors out of the enemy's firing arcs and at least one torpedo hits home.

Squad Leader is actually a unique upgrade: you can't run two of them.
