Elrond/Loragon/Glorfindel = Awesome Trio!

By sapender, in Strategy and deck-building

Hey all,

I've just used the above mentioned hero's for most of Khazad-dum and I must say they are quite powerful... anyone else have tremendous success with them as well?

Elrond and Vilya are so good... Strider and Glorfindel aren't too shabby either : )

Yes, I've been using these three heroes for every scenario I've played ever since I got the Dwarrowdelf APs. Elrond+Vilya is amazing for playing allies like Gildor. Put Light of Valinor on Glorfindel and use Aragorn's threat reduction when needed. Glorfindel's low threat makes up for Elrond's (the highest one in the game). Arwen is an auto-include. She fits great with both Aragorn and Elrond.

I use this heroes as my best deck too (have won everything up till heirs of numenor with them). I agree they are great. My deck is a bit similar with yours, with more attachments i think and a bit different allies (i also have one of each pack so not three northern trackers ot two unexpected courage). I agree that once you get vilya and imladris stargazer then the game is nearly over :P

yes, as some will know on here i usually use glorfindel/strider/frodo, however i alteratively use the deck you mention in this thread. i

very nice line up indeed, and of course very thematic ;)

i often even put in a copy of trollshaw scout and watcher of the bruinen for elrond to buy. of course with 2 excellent attacking heroes and 1 excellent defending hero, there is usually little need to as readying abilities on the heroes are far more useful

rich

The ally lineup is also very similar to mine. I have just bought Return to Mirkwood, and will probably switch a Watcher or Scout for a Mirkwood Runner. I love the Noldor thematically, but the Runner's ability is just too good to pass up - if I've understood it correctly. Is it enough that he is the only one who attacks one specific enemy, or does he have to be the only one who attacks in the combat phase altogether? With a few runners, you could inflict some serious damage on high-def enemies - and Black Uruks suddenly don't seem so bad.

Agreed! I those 3 combined with Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir with my second hand...so much fun.

instead aragorn what i can use? Bereavor, Gloin, Dwalin? beregond or theoden? what you suggest?

I think the main draw of Lore Aragorn in this deck is his ability to make threat a non-issue while still using heroes with strong stats. There aren't a lot of heroes that can replace him, but I'd go with Lore Denethor. He's can fill that defender spot, keeps your threat low, and his ability is great in solo. You'd need to add some extra threat reduction, though.

Elrond / Glorfindel make an awesome combinaison. I still found Elrond + vilya to best the best deck both in solo or multiplayer.

I personally play Eowyn during a long time alongside Elrond and Glorfindel, and another build with Boromir (before his errata). Gandalf is the best hero to pair with Elrond but it came a long time after cycle 2 so I guess you don't have it.

Lore Denethor? He's a good substitute.

As I said elsewhere, Spirit Beregond goes great with Elrond. He is not a low threat himself but he keeps the threat from not rising and takes care of defense right away, which is usually what you need when starting with a high threat (a good defensive hero). With Gandalf I begin at 37 and sometimes end the game at 36, and usually never reach 40 (without other threat reduction, though I keep a copy of Greeting just in case).
