Stuck mid-campaign

By afkhalis, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

I'm a fairly new GM and I've got a group of 6 acolytes playing a custom Dark Heresy campaign. We've got a guardsman, cleric, scum, tech-priest, arbitrator, and assassin. The assassin had the trait of having a layer of scum on him to keep evil spirits away, which we have since turned into him having the beginnings of psyker abilities that he found filth kept suppressed.

They have just left a planet that had a Mechanicus variant cult that is trying to create new technology. The Mechanicus cult had the nobility following, which led to horrible acts of slavery and a revolt from the lower classes. The players managed to "kill" the leader of the cult (body went missing suddenly after the fight) and through their tinkering with machinery, managed to have the planet attacked by a huge army of Orks.

Long story short, a machine built by the cult sent the entire planet into the warp (after our Acolytes escaped). They acolytes also entered the warp by the hands of their pilot trying to escape the Orks.

My goal is to have this Mechanicus branch-off cult to be spreading across multiple planets, including the primary operating planet of the Adeptus Mechanicus, pushing the idea of new technology and discoveries, but now with the growing influence of Chaos. Obviously the idea of new technology alone is considered heresy, but I feel adding Chaos should make it a bit more dark.

I'm not quite sure how to go about my plan though. I feel like my mind is fried. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me push forward?

You can find examples of Chaos-corrupted Forge Worlds in the Black Library novel Dark Adeptus (second book in the [now defunct?] Grey Knights series), and the Deathwatch adventure The Emperor Protects . Lots of stuff there to draw inspiration from.

Keep in mind that time passes differently in the warp, so if your planet re-emerges in the near future, hundreds of years could have passed, giving them plenty of time to repopulate, invent new (daemon-powered) technologies, etc.

Thanks! I'll check those books out and keep in mind about the difference in time in the warp.

I think that I'm going to try to sidetrack them with another mission from their Inquisitor while still referring to the planet through nightmares, visions, and comm messages from people from the planet will keep it fresh in their minds and tie everything together in the grand scheme of things (with the Mechanicus off shoot cult being responsible for the issues on the new mission)
