Beast house

Hi guys and gals. I.was wonderung if any of you has used the beast house in your heresy adventures/ campaigns. If you have what was your experience eith it and how was it employed?

The newest member of my acolytes was a former member of the beast house in his background and I was planning on having the inquisitor use him to infiltrate the beast house. Has anybody tried this?

I've only played one brief encounter with the Beast House- wherein the Acolytes get drafted into assisting a bounty hunter capture the leader of a group of Beast House poachers. The 11th post in this thread contains a synopsis of how it went down...

I've used it before; in an investigation - the acolytes managed to make their way into a hidden arena where the clients would wager on - and take on - man vs xenos beast fights. This isn't as suicidal as it sounds; full armour, powered blades and so on were not merely encouraged but provided to those who needed them, along with some murder-servitor 'tag team partners' if needed.

The team sneaking in the back did fairly well, discovering along the way that darts loaded with "enough sedative to knock out an ogryn" really don't have enough sedative to knock out an ogryn. In the words of everyone's favourite Skaven 'consultant', whatever you use, use a lot of it.

The team sneaking in the front had a high old time - principally since they were drinking and chatting to assorted nobles, smugglers and business-hungry courtesans rather than wading through still-damp carnosaur fecal matter. They were able to make a few contacts and get some information, but it ultimately became clear that if they wanted to get 'in' with the people who mattered, they had to join in the duelling as well as just the betting.

Unfortunately, they hadn't done their background investigation as thoroughly or undetectably as they thought. At the point they entered the arena, armed up and receiving appropriate applause, they felt fairly confident. At the point they were introduced to the crowd as "The Holy Ordo's Finest" the smiles disappeared and there were a few '...ulp' sounds...

The beasts they were put up against were rather out of their league, and involved quite a bit of desperate fighting until team two could make it to the other side of the arena gate and allow them to escape via the stables, pursued by several ogryns handlers.
