Campaign story idea

By soldeen70, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

hi all its sol70 here i was just wondering if this was a good campaign story idea gran_risa.gif

I made it up in 5-10 minutes

You and your acolyte buddies where investigating an impireal world when something happened that you cant remember knocked you all unconsios

you wake up in an old shed on what one of buddies described to be a primitive/feral world with no contact to the impirium

you must find a way off the planet.....

Thats all i got for now tell me what you think Thanx gran_risa.gif

Not my cup of tea personally. I mean, there's nothing really sinister to it, nor is there any investigating.

Now if they were released into said Feral World after being knocked out by the group they were investigating who managed to get the better of them *AND* they had some sort of explosive collar strapped to them set to go off after so much time (or, if you wanted a Beast House angle, they have strapped to their legs a pheremone releaser that causes a very large, very angry predator to follow them around the planet), that would be a bit more interesting.

Good idea, just needs some fine tuning. Please do say what you come up with to add to that though, interested to hear.

Pretty bare bones for a setting. However, it could be made into something interesting and entertaining.

The acolytes are out on the town, liqour is flowing and they are having the time of their lives... when the lights go out and the screaming starts. They awake, battered and bloody (more than their wounds account for....), face down in the dirt of what appears to be a deserted hovel. No one has been living here in quite some time.

Nearby, on a crate, sits a small holoprojector that activates when approached. The image of a robed and cowled humanoid figure greats them, by name, and explains their situation. There is an aertifact somewhere on this rock, one that he desires and hasn't been able to aquire, he will trade that object for their return to Imperial space. Oh, and by the way (figure holds out a vial), they may want to hurry... for in X days/weeks the nanos they have been injected with will release their viral-mutation if not removed. They would hate to end up like the 'other' groups he has sent before.

The holo cuts out for a moment and then starts to display the flickering runes of a countdown.

Actually, something similar is about to happen in my own campaign, but then I'm being rather hereatical and dropping my players on Warhammer world to deal with a rising genestealer cult in the Southlands (they were summoned/sent there by Slann Mage-Priests for anyone who's wondering.) At any rate, the other two suggestions were correct. The situation itself is good but needs some fleshing out with story elements. For example, feral worlds aren't always pre-gunpowder societies but rather the post-apocalyptic remains of a once booming Imperial world. Maybe your acolytes are investigating a coven of Tzeentchite witches or an Eldar presence on one such world, then when they wake up and start lookign around they discover that they never left the world, it was just destroyed long ago. Maybe they get off the world and look around, they find themselves in a galaxy after the fall of the Imperium? Lots of places you can go with that, especially if you like Chaos, or Tau characters.

THAT is a really good idea. Call me copycat, but this fits perfectly for a oneshot. Maybe on a Deathworld.

Great concept. My first thought was that it sounded like a test. So...

What if it was their inquisitor (or interrogator) who put them there. Either to see if they're tough enough to cut it in the big leagues, the reward for success being more important missions and more access to resources, or to see if they're trustworthy, offering them a way off the planet that meant betraying their inquisitor and seeing if they take it.

As an added element for the characters, you could have hidden pict recorders and micro beads to moniter their progress that they could find (or not) and wonder about...

HEY all I havent been posting for a bit because I have been painting my Space marine armie

I have just updated the story and made it a bit more complex

the campain was actually a prologue on how the group met the inquisitor

Prologue: your on a big impirial transport ship eating your breakfast when as you look out the window you see another ship heading towards you it suddenly fires upon the ship ypur on ..you and yor squad run to you rooms to grab your gear but before you get to the next floor a strange man pushes you to to go to the escape pods you go with him as you get launched out at the near by planet you see the ship explode in a massive fire ball of shrapenal and hot fire ...........as you hit the atmosphere you see a sprawling city the pod hits the ground and your knocked unconious.

Present: you wake up in an unusual old looking apartment theres something tight around your neck. As you look up you see a holo pad it activates as you go neer it the xenos on there introduces himself as a crime lord and explains to you what is around you and your companions necks he sais its a collar that in a certain amount of time will release a fume that atracts a very dangerous creature and only by payng him 200000 thrones will he remove them as he finishes explaining this he pulls out a las pistol and shoots into the distance before the transmition ended a stange creature came out an killed him. One of your companions comes into the room and chuckes you a flintlock pistol and sais "we got 3 choices 1 get off the planet before the coller dose what it does 2 we fight the beist whatever it is and 3 we wait for the beast to come and kill us" (that is when the group make the decision of what to do"

It would be really appriciated if you tell me what you think and ill update the story and tell you what the PC's do.

woops i forgot to say that your companion tells you its a planet with no contact to the impirium.

Reminds me of SAW :D

lol my gaming group decided to get off the planet and were asking around when they got into a bar fight and got killed by a bounty hunter

its sad cause i spent half an hour making the story llorando.gif

ill post another topic on the new story i come up with soon

Sounds like you guys forgot about using fate points. gui%C3%B1o.gif

How did the entire group get taken out by one NPC anyway? You might want to tone the difficulty level of your combat encounters a little, getting killed after five minutes is not a good recipe for an enjoyable gaming session. Just some friendly advice.

Hey Demo The Players Were Complaining that the Preivious scenario was to easy and they wanted a really hard challenge so i made them start this campain with really really really Hopeless gear and as they were in a bar and one of the PCs smartmouthed the bounty hunter for telling him to leave him alone and the bounty hunter was hevily armed so yeah

But I agree I should tone down the combat Difficulty A LOT ! gran_risa.gif

Heh, well I guess your group will be more careful with what they wish for in the future. Anyways, finding the correct balance between "too frakkin' hard" and "a walk in the park" is always challenging. My group really has me stumped sometimes, breezing through situations that should be hopeless and sometimes failing miserably when they should have succeeded. Then again GM'ing wouldn't be any fun if the players didn't surprise you now and then.
