Shuttle Scenario

Regarding the shuttle scenario which comes with the Shuttle itself (which hopefully a few people have seen).

To rescue passengers the Imperial player needs to take a 'Rescue Shuttle' action.

When doing this, within range 1 of the target ship, for each passenger he wishes to rescue his ship takes damage equal to his speed.

For example: if he was flying past doing a 3 Bank and picked up 2 passengers, his ship would take 6 damage (2x3)

This appears to suggest that the Shuttle should slow to 0 speed for the pick up...

But, as a friend pointed out, the speed 0 move is RED... that means the shuttle is stressed when it stops... and stressed ships cannot perform actions. (So no rescue action)

Is this correct? Doesn't that mean that picking up passengers ALWAYS causes damage (since you can't stop to do it). This doesn't seem in the spirit of the mission... have I missed something (I can't see the forest for the trees?)

None of the Shuttle pilots can take an EPT, so that won't work.

Advanced sensors?

Advanced Sensors or fly two shuttles, one of them being Captain Yorr to take the stress away from the collecting shuttle.

Warning - running two shuttles will hurt your chances of winning anything! ;)

Re:Advanced Sensors, unfortunately the 'Rescue action' specifically states that it cannot be taken as a free action, :(

So the only answer is to run two shuttles, one of them Yorr?

Seems like a crazy scenario! :D

Although it seems logical that the shuttle should be doing the rescue it doesn't explicitly say so. You could maneuver the shuttle within Range 1 at speed 1, take 4 passengers for 4 damage then proceed off the play area. Then 2 TIEs can maneuver within Range 1 at speed 1, take 1 passenger for 1 damage each then proceed off the play area.

Just tied this with two shuttles and the Yorr stop. The opponents x wing and b wing obliterated the shuttle, before much could happen.

I found however, tie interceptors with ptl and stealth are awesome for this... They take 2 each, zooming in, boosting, then pull a hard 1 turn, to take 2 damage, then next turn 5 and boost and are nearly out.... 1 omicron shuttle, and no upgrades... The enemy may go for it first. (The first time). Your sabers each rescue 2 , then escape and turtle...
