Battlescribe data files updated

By ArcticSnake, in X-Wing

@Stone37 I don't think they've been added yet. I was just preparing the data so that the Aces _could_ be added.

Of course if you want to add them yourself and submit the files to us that would be great ;) Editors come with the desktop version of the app.

I actually updated the BattleScribe files already and have been maintaining them. I added Imperial Aces and everything that has been spoiled already for Wave 4, for the Epic ships, and Rebel Aces. I emailed Arctic Snake a few weeks ago because I wanted to check with him before I took ownership of all this stuff publically, but I haven't heard from him, so I'm probably past the point where it would be respectful to him.

It is just me and a few of my friends who have been using them but I think they are working great and are bug free.

I didn't agree with some of the choices that Arctic Snake made when designing his files, so I did change a lot. To be clear, I don't think he made bad choices, I think he just kept adding new releases on top of old releases and was hesitant to break old lists. I had no such hesitancy. As a result, I've changed so much that my files really aren't compatible with old roster files any more. However, they work really well now.

I don't really have a good place to host them but I'm okay if they go up on the data page.

FYI - Here's a list of changes I made. You guys can decide if this is worth me uploading.

I added all this:

- All cards from Imperial Aces

- Epic ships - the GR-75 and the CR90 are added in the Rebel catalogue as options. The CR90 is a "unit" in BS terms to account for its two cards. All the titles, cargo, hardpoints, and other spoiled cards are in place; I've got the new Team upgrade type basically ready but none have been spoiled yet.

- Wave 4 - All four Z-95 pilots, two E-Wing pilots, three TIE Defender pilots, and two TIE Phantom pilots, plus all the completely spoiled upgrade cards. When the rest of the cards get spoiled, they will go in too.

- Rebel Aces - Both announced new pilots, all announced new upgrades.

I added in a lot of the funky new Upgrades that change limits and conditions, including the Royal Guard TIE title, R2-D6, A-Wing Test Pilot, and Chardaan Refit. These are the kind of things that necessitated a lot of the overall structure changes that make the new files not very compatible with previous lists.

Things I did not keep:

- Flavor Text - The old file had flavor text for the non-unique ships, but it displayed as odd hidden entries on mobile. It had no game effect and wasn't consistently implemented anyway, so I scrubbed it.

- TIE Advanced x1 - Vader's TIE Advanced was grouped by itself and was always more confusing than it was worth for people. I left the x1 category in the game system so I can revert it without trouble if there is ever a game reason that the x1 is different from the standard TIE Advanced, but for now, they come up under the same menu.

- I removed "Unique Pilot Talent" from the list of rules that comes up under a ship. Now all the rules that come up are available actions. The unique talents still display in the Profile Summary so it is no real loss.

Other updates:

- I did a general proof-read through the system and fixed a lot of typos

- I updated all the cards that have errata with corrected versions

- When an Upgrade adds a symbol to a ship's Action Bar (like Engine Upgrade, Targeting Computer, or the Millennium Falcon title), that action now shows up as an available action for that ship in the Roster view

- When an Upgrade permanently modifies a ship's stat (like Veteran Instincts, Hull Upgrade, or Shield Upgrade), that stat is now changed in the Profile Summary of the Roster view

- When an Upgrade temporarily modifies a ship's stat (currently only Stealth Device), that stat shows its natural value and a "+1" in the Profile Summary of the Roster view

- I added roster limits based on the Epic Tournament Rules (i.e. - if you add more than 12 X-Wings to a list, it will tell you that you have too many. It will still let you add as many as you want, but you'll get flagged for more than 12 of a small ship type or 6 of a large ship type).

Two oddities so far:

- Currently, BattleScribe doesn't seem to like things with a negative cost, so Chardaan Refit is a little odd. Rather than being an upgrade that costs -2, which BS didn't like, it is currently set up as an upgrade that costs 0 and reduces the cost of its parent ship by 2. The net effect is the same except that when you see it on an A-Wing's list of Missile options, it shows cost 0.

- B-Wing/E - The upgrade to add a crew slot to the B-Wing is not completely spoiled. Currently, all the B-Wings will display the list of crew, but it will flag you for taking any because the maximum number of crew is 0 if you don't have B-Wing/E. However, you don't actually have the option to take it yet - this was just in preparation for the card when it comes out (and to let us build lists that have B-Wings with crew).

@Dr Lucky

It's early days yet for the hosting site, so I'd be happy to use your updated data if it's more recent and has all the updates. And if you want to become a member so you can update the files we host, you're welcome to - you'll need to sign up for GitHub and post a join request by clicking this link: https://github.com/BSData/swxwing/issues/new?title=%5BJoin%20Request%5D

Where can I get your data so I can upload it?

@Jonskichov: I've put in a bug report, but thought it was worth noting here too. The .gstz file tries to create a folder under the bs data folder with a colon in it (derived from the game name) which causes it to error and fail in windows.

@Blue Seven

Thanks, fixed. I'll fix this on the BattleScribe side of things for the next release too.

I went to the site and updated the my battlescribe, downloaded your updates and now I can't see bombers, imp aces are not there also.

:-(

@Cubanboy

That's probably because the data we have is different to the data you used to make your previous lists. We're still working on getting updated data up on the site (it's early days). Sorry.

Dr Lucky, that sounds great! I would love to download the update. Is there a link available?

I don't have it hosted anywhere yet. Right now it just exists on the phones and laptops of me and my buddies.

I'll get it to Jonskichov tonight when I'm at home so he can get it up on his official rrepository site.

Jonskichov - Can I email it to you to post or do I need to register and upload it?

Email is fine - just zip the whole lot together :)

I'll email it tonight. We're in the middle of quite a few updates and releases to the game - Will it be easy for me to keep updating as stuff is released?
