[STATS] What do you think of this Graboid?

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

For next weekends game, one of the monsters I'm thinking of throwing at my players is - well, shamlessly stolen from Tremors: a graboid (well, giant sandworm-ish beast). Obviously I'll come up with a more star wars-y name - Dastarian Death Worm or something - but for the moment, for the purposes of discussion, we can call a rose a rose.

Take a peek and tell me what you think. Too wussy? Too tough? I'll be throwing it against three players that have about 200 xp under their belts (so still pretty starting, but getting their combat legs under them).

Arent all Nemesis supposed to get Adversary 2?

I do like the idea and may use it on one of my desert planets!

Well, it doesnt say anything under Adversary on Page 132 and nothing under the rules about minions rivals and nemesises on page 390. I'll leave it for people more versed in NPC building to say one way or the other.

Actually, I wanted to scare my players with something like a Thresher Maw from Mass Effect...

In Under a Black Sun, the end of game bad guy is a Nemesis but although it does give an option to add Adversary or not dependent on your parties power level, he doesn't have it as default.

You could also give it an ability like Tremor Sense - a bonus to Perception and Vigilance when it comes to detecting vibrations on the surface. I remember in the movies and series the characters couldn't even drop a penny without one of these things coming after them.

Can't wait for someone to attach a thermal to a mouse droid and send him out into the open ground.

If you're not going to bump up the adversary rating, I would almost make subterranean offer to 2 setback (being fully encase in the ground is pretty good cover). Just a consideration.

Any thoughts to shamelessly stealing the other forms? Granted, I think the Graboid is the most terrifying of all its variations.

I think Kevin Bacon gets 2 boost die versus this thing.

Kevin Bacon gets two boost dice for everything. It says so right on the Kevin Bacon talent tree.

Also, there should be stats for the Assblasters. Just the name alone is stat-worthy.

I tried to emulate it was a pretty good perception (with a bonus underground) - but yeah, thinking about it, throwing some blue dice at it might be the smarter way to go.

Oh, and perhaps some kind of "Scared of explosions" sort of thing - powerful sonic attacks and grenades get extra blue dice when attacking.

Yeah, probably not a bad idea - I'm trying to straddle the line between "Really tough" and "Total curbstomp", but I think an extra black die might not be too much.

And I can play around with the other forms I suppose. Let me get the game finalized and see how these stats play out and I'll give it some thought.

You forgot to add this to Abilities List: "Play 5 Degrees of Kevin Bacon using Adversary 5"
