Ok, so for some time I've been haunted by the idea to make a sector of my own and it won't just leave me. So I decided to write a condensed version of it and see what people might think of it. Anyone feeling inspired is of course welcome to steal anything they like.
Kaderos Sector
The sector has the Scarus Sector to its galactic west. It is bordered by the Halo Stars to the galactic north and with the Stygian Expanse to the east. Imperial space is found in the west and south.
History
The sector itself was first conquered by the Imperium during the Great Crusade but then lost following the Age of Apostasy before was once more brought into the Imperium during the Age of Redemption in the 39th millennia. At that time various pocket empires of debased heresy had sprung up but they were purged without mercy by the Imperial forces.
Recent events
The most important event in recent time is the arrival of the new Sector Lord in Arcus of the Argead Rogue Trader Dynasty. Through some unknown means the Rogue Trader has been made Sector Lord and affirmed by the High Lords of Terra to have the title pass down hereditary through his line. This has caused upheaval among the powers of the sector and caused concern among the Puritan elements sees little to love in the new Sector Lord's radical inclinations. What Arcus did or promised to do to obtain these privilages is not known by anyone save himself at this point. But his arrival of his dynasty's fleet and armies has given him a solid base of power.
Inquisitorial Presence
There are between five and a dozen Inquisitors within the sector with their official headquarter in the Labyrinthine Palace which functions as both a vault for various items captured or used by the Inqusition and as the seat of the Lord Inquisitor Hector Arcanthos.
Major Threats
There are several threats to the Imperium in the Kaderos Sector of which the most prominent will be mentioned below
- Cult of the Conqueror-Emperor: a native cult which florished in the Imperium absence but is suspected to have far longer history. it worships the Imperium as a great conqueror and was origionally accepted by the Ecclesiarchy. However after investigation by the Ordo Hereticus it was declared heresy and driven under the ground. For those with forbidden knowledge the symbology and depictions of the Emperor has a great deal of parallels with the arch-traitor Horus.
- The Exiled Courts: when the native pocket empires were smashed not all of them died willingly but a great deal fled to continue their practices and plot the return of their days of glory. These are the Exiled Court who revel in heresy of many kinds and foments rebellion and insurrection against the Imperium. The difference between these and "normal" cults is that these can historically be traced back to one of the pocket empires and often have great arsenals of weaponry and technology that they brought with them in their escape.
Some examples are:
- Court of the King in Darkness: cult surrounding a gene-spliced xenos-human hybrid who cannot stand light
- Court of Devouring: surrounding the abomination of cannibalism under its Meat King.
- Court of the Flesh. a cult or court surrounding the modification and re-sculpturing of the human body into new and terrible forms and is ruled by the Queen of Forms, a self-made shape-warping mutant.
- Cult of the Serpent: a cult dedicated to an unidentified serpentine entity. Its tools are those of corruption and manipulation to advance the esoteric goals of its deity.Curiously it seems what various serpentine mutants are drawn to the cult and its considered a great honor and mark of favor to be gifted with unnatural serpentine mutations.
