fail trane

By Mt_Do, in UFS General Discussion

How does one describe failure? Does it have a name, a face? In the gaming world, there was talk of a legend, of an epic fail named trane. Now what would compel me to discuss such a sad, pathetic story? Oh that's right, because it is frickin' funny. Today our playgroup here in Fallston became witness to a rare event that we will never forget. Trane killed himself in UFS when he decided that it would be an awesome idea to lose 3 vitality in order to clear his pool with Flames of Fame. The sadest thing is is that all he had was 3 life.

Here is an rendition of what happened.

Trane: Response, commit loose 3 vitality.

BOB: ANNNND your dead.

Never in the history of UFS or any game whatsoever had such an event unraveled. UFSer's if there is a face to failure, it would be him.

Heh, if we are gonna talk about epic fails, I have a good one that I did myself. We were playing teams at the GCC, and I'd never really played against Cutting Edge. All I knew was that it had a way to reduce damage as a response, and I didn't like that since I was going in for the kill turn. So, I used my Chinese Boxing to commit it and not have to worry anymore. Jokes on me though when he still used it and managed to survive for another turn (albeit, crippled from the effect).

It was an epic failure followed by some epic LMAO

...not sure if we're supposed to be talking about personal failures? =/

I once hesitated on destroying a guy's foundation with Olcadan's because he had Blinding Rage out, forgetting that he had no other copies in his deck -_- .

This shall never hapen again. i have purchased a life counter. somehow i thought i had 4 health. by the way, were is my beutifull face? didn't josh get a picture?

ALL ABOARD THE FAIL TRAINE!

I used Manifest Destiny to commit my friend's Chester Backing. As a joke he decided to negate it using that Chester's Backing in response.

I had two Bounce Back's in play

I forgot to use Heisheng Jian against Olcadan's.

At Worlds.

Multiple times.

In the same game.

Fortunately, it was a grinder -_-

Also fail - going for an incredibly lethal Tsunami Sabre with Tira, forgetting that there is a ready copy of Silver Spoon on Shelby's side of the board, and a card in his hand >_<

Jacob - Please don't do it anymore ;_;

OMG OMG, MMTTTTTTTTT DDDDOOOOOOOO WITH THE C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!

Whilst using my Chun Li deck, my opponent reduced the damage of one of my Feline Spike's multiple copies to 2 damage, so I decided to use Healer to return it to it's printed damage. Which is 0.

I know a guy who in a game against one of my friends destroyed 3 lost mem's trying to negate defender of the empire.

This happened just after the promo Haohmaru came out. First turn he played out some foundations, then he hopped on my turn, and on his second turn used the ability to remove a card in your discard pile from the game to search your deck for another copy or lose the game, well he played one copy of the foundation out on his first turn, checked one copy that he removed from the game, and wouldn't you know it hopped the other 2 copies into his momentum! Easiest win ever!!!! partido_risa.gif

someone tried this same 'tactic' against me at worlds 07. gran_risa.gif

recently, i had someone play rejections against an attack while:

a) it would not have killed them, just... dented them
b) knowing i had a kft in hand
AND
c) ...there were 2 SoC in my staging area...

BAH, we kill ourselves all the time. For different reasons, though.

One of our players would rather end the game by forcing a loss on himself (deckout/pay life costs) before losing normally.

Once I found myself forcing a 2-player deckout because I was losing. I found it funny. This is how it went down.

Me (Yang):OK, my turn. I have like 5 life left, you have how much?

Him (Sagat): 25.

Me: OK, here I go. Play Ryubi Kyaku for 4. Made it. I enhance with Yang for +6 speed.

Him: OK.

Me: I enhance with KFT for +6 speed.

Him: OK.

Me: I enhance with another KFT for +5 speed.

Him: ....OK.

Me: I enhance with Military Discipline for +12 speed.

Him: .....O...K...

Me: I enhance with Heidern's Assassination Arts for +8 speed.

Him: ...Go on...

Me: I enhance with another Heidern's Assassination Arts for +8 more speed.

Him: Sure...

Me: I enhance with Deadly Ground, destroy it, if this attack deals damage, we draw cards equal to its speed.

Him: What? What's its speed at?

Me: 48.

Him: Uh... I think we don't have that many cards left in our decks.

Me: Sure we do! Any E's?

Him: Uh... no.

Me: OK, enhance with another Deadly Ground. Does it deal damage?

Him: ...

Me: Alright, we draw 84 cards at the same time so it's a draw. Game 2?

-o-o-o-o-

I found myself doing it again on game 2. My scout didn't know what to do with a 0-0-2 when time was called, so we went into First Blood. I went second, was able to block an attack. Play Ryubi Kyaku, KFT, Yang for game.

wouldn't that be 96 cards?

all in all trane, if this thread isn't making this obvious, our community is a pretty **** good one at that. While your own playgroup was laughing at you, people have come to tell there stories of epic failures or stories of someone else's. THIS..is the reason UFS kicks ass. Either way though, you gave me the best laugh of my life. Thanks bub.

One time one of the guys in my playgroup (Ken) was playing a match against a turtle'd Zangief deck. He was running N-type Humans, Military Combat Arts, and KoF 2006, so his momentum pile was pretty huge and his attacks dwindled to a lone Preventing the Curse, which was in his hand.

Ken plays 2 N-types, emptying Gief's hand. He then picks up his hand, looks it over, and asks me if that's his hand. After I confirm that it is, he claims that he had an attack in his hand before... Yeah, Ken blindly added Preventing the Curse to his momentum.

Part 2 happens all of the times that Zangief attacks Ken after this, while Ken has 2 ready Lord of the Makai's. Instead of playing the second E on both of them, eating an attack, and drawing at least one of his attacks, Ken continues to block AND empty Gief's hand, eventually milling him out for the win.

After, when I ask him why he didn't play LotM, he looks at me and asks, "It can seriously do that?!" We remind him everyday, now.

Deadly Rage made a whole lot of people fail.
