Adv Sensors + Push the Limit?

By progressions, in X-Wing

If you use Advanced Sensors to take a free action before you reveal your maneuver, is it then possible to immediately use Push the Limit to take a second free action, taking a stress token?

And then, if the maneuver you reveal is green, does that remove the stress token?

Yup

The only reason I could think of for you not being able to do that is the very specific wording on the cards.

Advances sensors reads "...you may perform 1 free action."

Push the Limit reads "After you perform an action (as in not a free action), you may perform 1 free action show in your action bar."

So the question is whether or not a free action can trigger Push the Limit or not. If so, then I don't see any reason why you couldn't use Push the Limit in tandem with Advance Sensors.

Free actions are actions that may be performed outside the normal Perform Actions step. They are still actions and there is no reason they wouldn't trigger PTL.

Jim

That's the same reason Turr can use PTL on his free barrel roll/boost

I had it wrong first too but i agree, this works fine. And is also very useful on the B-Wing.

Very nice!

What if you have a stress token already?

Can you use Advanced Sensors to take a free action before you reveal your maneuver?

No. Having a stress token prevents a ship from taking any action at all, even free actions (page 17).

But using advanced sensors and ptl with a green maneuver makes the ship much less predictable.

Thanks!

So I am assuming order of operations here? By using Advanced Sensors and Push The Limit, one could then theoretically clear a stress in the same round as receiving one once the dial has been revealed as a green forward maneuver?

Free actions are still ACTIONS.

and yes, Adv sensors, BB-8 and some particular weird-arse pilot that performs actions before executing maneuver can clear the stress from PTL\EI by making it

Can you use Advanced Sensors to take a free action before you reveal your maneuver?

You even have to if you want to make use of Advanced Sensors :)

BB8 gives you even more flexability here cause you have 3 actions with no stress.

Can you use advance sensors to preform an action, then maneuver, then push the limit?

No. PTL triggers optionally after you perform an action. It does not trigger after a maneuver.

Yep. I also use this on a Lambda or Upsilon to Advance Sensors -> General Hux Action-> Gain 1 Stress -> Perform a Green maneuver -> Remove 1 Stress.

Edit: With Major Stridan and a Systems Officer, it allows you to throw out 3 Focus Tokens and 1 Target Lock to your list.

Absolutely yes! Advanced sensors is one of the most fun cards in the entire game.

Probably my favorite upgrade, although its also one bad day away from being impossibly broken on every ship that has it. ( Especially the Tie Punisher )

Some ideas for you to experiment with. :)

Pattern Analyzer does a similar thing but at the end of a move instead of before reveal.
