1gm 1 pc will it work ?

By gemflex, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

hello all,

ive got my warhammer core set on order which will arrive next friday!!

i'm only planning on running the game myself and my wife, i was going to be the gm and my wife a pc, will this be a struggle running the official campaigns or will i have to tweak a few enemys down?

I play tested the system utilising my daughter as a playtester prior to gaming with my usual groups and it worked well. As to tuning down the protagonists, that would depend on what NPC's you plan to have in your wife's party.

No tea for you if you kill her character off though!!

That's good news! Indeed i'm going to have to be very carefull how the game plays out, Its not the first time ive lost out on tea!

Once ive got my hands on the core set i was going to run the demo campaign " A Day Late, A Shilling Short "

Reading through the beggining of the demo campaign material it mentions that at least 2 of the pc's should be in the adventure in order for it to move forward, so im guessing im going to have to make one of the pc's a NPC? i did wonder if the battle encounter will be to difficult with this setup, I'm hoping the battle will play out in a fairly balanced way.

Welcome to the game!

It would be sensible to tweak some encounters if there is only one player character (as in any game).

So, when you run Day Late, Shilling Short (the DEMO adventure that you can download), you need to cut the number of beastmen in HALF at least. I would allow her to control a 2nd character (sidekick) that doesn't have any talents to deal with.

I would also give Birgitta Ballistic Skill and Weapon Skill TRAINED (1 yellow).

Are you completely new to the game? I HIGHLY recommend checking out the following:

1) download the PREGENERATED CHARACTERS from Liber Fanatica 7. It will help IMMENSELY to see how characters are made. The core box does a sh*tty job for examples in this regards. If nothing else, you've got a starting point for all this.

2) http://rpggeek.com/thread/915289/tutorial-how-to-learn-it-how-to-teach-wfrp3 . You can also find most downloadable 3e material here. There are additional character pregenerated downloads.

3) http://www.gitzmansgallery.com/index.html - All kinds of goodies here.

Lastly, ASK AWAY! We're a trove of information and advice on these forums.

(note, after you learn the game, you can check out my house rules..they have a complete equipment list)

Thanks for the reply,

Just had a quick look at some of the links you provided and looks like ive got plenty of reading to do before i get my game through!

If you want to try out the dice, I recommend this: https://googledrive.com/host/0B27SCDR38xFuNE96TGV4S1Jjdlk/rollers/wfrp3e/

Make a weapon attack against a goblin:

Strength 4 (blue)

You're trained in weapon skill: (1 yellow)

Difficulty (always 1 purple)

Enemy defense (1 black)

If you've got one hammer left over, you HIT. Eagles are good. Skulls are bad. Chaos star is really bad. Comet is really good.

That's the first thing you need to learn.

If you want me to run a quick encounter for you on Roll20, I'd be happy to.

Hey Emirikol,

Those are some great links you have in the tutorial page on RPGGeek, but some of the links to Gitz's stuff is out of date. I think he's reorganized the site since you first posted those links.

As an example, the Court Dimon document you link to generates a Page Not Found error. It's still there if you go back to the original resources page, though.

If any of you guys need any of those old documents, i've got them. you can email me. :) i'm going to put together a skydrive for them if it seems like a lot of people need them.
