X-Wing character and ship guide links

By ThadiusCole, in X-Wing

Hello there everyone. I have been away for a while now and anyone who remembers me here will know I have a number of guides for each ship in X-Wing. Before the forum changes here I used to have the links in my sig here but with the new rules I cannot fit all of them there.

So if you are interested in bookmarking these for future use then please do. *EDIT* HWK 290, B-Wing and TIE Bomber added. This post will be updated with future releases such as the 'Imperial Aces' pack and Cinematic ships along with wave 4 etc.

*EDIT*

As explained in my latest new post, please use this link to find the new and improved X-Wing page on my blog site for all your guide needs.

*EDIT 2 (Feb 9th 2014)*

With the announcement of Wave 4 recently I will be adding pages for these ships to the X-Wing section of the blog. They will have images for easier navigation like the other vessels and the stats as seen on the bases. If nothing else these will allow me to produce the guides quicker when Wave 4 and the GR-75/Tantive are released.

Regarding the Imperial Aces expansion, I will be adding a separate set of links for these special packs as I imagine we will be seeing a Rebel aces pack in the future. The aces will be separate from the normal ships to make finding their specific card/pilot/abilities easier for you and they will have different silhouettes to distinguish them again. I am thinking the Saber squadron having the green but with a red stripe along the wing, and the Crimson vessel being a different shade of red. We'll see how it goes.

Again thank you to everyone who has visited my page and used my guides, I am happy to provided something the community here can use :)

*EDIT 3 (Mar 28th 2014)*

Imperial Aces are finished. They are in a single guide with all pilot cards and other equipment. The icons for these guides will be added to the X-Wing page when time permits, but the guide is currently on the front page of the blog.

*EDIT 4 (May 13th 2014)*

Added GR-75 Details to it's guide page and also added the new X-Wing pilots, droids and flechette torpedoes to the X-Wing guide.

*EDIT 5 (24th May 2014)*

CR90 Corvette guide added to the X-Wing page. Link can be found on this post further down or over at the blog linked here.

*EDIT 6* (27th June 2014)

Z-95 Headhunter guide completed. Use the top link to navigate to my guide page.

*EDIT 7* (June 29th 2014)

*EDIT 8* (July 2nd 2014)

*EDIT 9* (October 13th 2014)

Rebel Ace's guide added to the blog - http://critical-rocket.blogspot.co.uk/p/x-wing.html

Excellent review of the various fighters. Will forward to your review of the HWK-290, B-wing, and TIE Bomber.

The two scenarios are a nice touch. I like the second scenario since it allows a third party to play. Have you thought about a rebel version of the convoy scenario?

Thanks :)

I haven't thought about re-organising any of the existing scenario's yet really. But Wave 3 has certainly got me thinking about a new pirate scenario featuring the YT-1300, HWK-290, Y-Wing and Firespray. I am really looking forward to a Z-95 expansion to give us a space superiority fighter for a third faction.

When I do make a new scenario I will post it here along with anything else I update or add to the guides. I do intend one day to take pictures of the unique cards from each pack and add them to the guides for a little more visual variety rather than just being text.

Hey i was reading your guides mainly out of curiosity, but could you reread them and correct them perhaps. In the Y-Wing description right at the start you write it can cardy an ion cannon when it's an ion cannon turret. Plus you write it can take missiles which is totally wrong.

Also in the HWKs description it is described as Rebel or unaligned. But well in this game ut is not unaligned, such a faction does not exist. Someone reading this and not actually knowing the game will just draw wrong conclusions.

I don't want to be overly critical, just saying if you do a guide, you should perhaps correct this and that.

On the Y-Wing one thanks for spotting that, it was done a while ago and I was really tired when I was typing them, so yeah it will be corrected tomorrow.

As far as the HWK-290 goes, I will not be removing the unaligned tag as many players use ships like Y-Wings, YT-1300's, Firespray's and now HWK-290's as independent vessels as seen in plenty of Star Wars games, comics, fiction and other media. I don't think people playing tournament rules will be confused by this and casual players will probably not get a HWK-290 before the starter set anyway and by that time they will know which units are rebel or Imperial.

Also I call them guides, but really I view them more as reference sheets and background fluff. I probably should re-name them Character and ship reference but I am too lazy :) But yeah the Y-Wing will be corrected tomorrow and I will give them another pass for other errors.

*Edit* mention of concussion and cluster missiles removed from Y-Wing. Ion cannon remains as the card details and stats mention it's the turret that fires the Ion cannon. Also in Star Wars there is no distinction between Ion cannons, if it fires ion charges it's simply referred to as 'ion cannon'. It's a pity we never see them being used by the fighters in the films. But yeah the post says 'ion cannon turret' in the weapons section and has a picture of the card. But yeah the missile reference has been removed.

Added Scenario 3, Decoy. Needs testing so it might change.

As some of you may have noticed I have removed the existing links from my original posts that link to each ship specifically. This list looked ugly and wasn't the easiest to navigate in this post, but I have updated the front page of my blog with a new X-Wing button at the top of the page between "wrestling" and "Miscellaneous". Clicking this button will take you to the new and improved resource page created by my friend grumpehkitteh.

Each guide is hyperlinked from there with a handy image of the ship you need to view and the page can be bookmarked from there. If this change isn't to your liking, let me know and I will add them again but I think this update makes the original post less visually ugly and giving you a one stop page to view all of the guides from with images is a much better way of finding what you need.

Expect the new Imperial Aces ships to be added under their own guides when they are released sometime this month (if all goes well).

The look is pretty good. I liked most of it. I did like the colors used for ship stats, however, I didn't like the format of the stats. The dashes look too much like minus signs. Most of your other data uses the colon as a separator, which would be less confusing.

E.g.

Primary Weapon Value: 3

Agility: 1

Hull: 3

Shields: 5

Also, what is Disqus? It's killing performance on my iPad using Chrome. The Disqus icon spins long after the page is otherwise loaded and finally asks if I want to reload it.

Hmm, I will have to ask my web monkey to look into the disqus issue. You're the first person to mention any issues with it, but yeah if it causes issues something will have to be done there. To answer your question though, Disqus is a comment system that cuts down on the amount of spam blogger gets from spam bots. Using that you don't see the raft of spam posts which can lag posts loading. Everyday is a battle to delete these and there are no shortage of sites that try and trick blog users into clicking links full of malware.

I will change those - into : if it causes confusion. Check back later today to see the changes and thanks for the feedback :)

@Lappenlocker

Checked out the Disqus issues you were having with iPad and it seems you're are not alone. There isn't anything I can do about it sadly as it seems it's an issue with either IOS, Disqus or both. If you can view the pages on a desktop running any of the major browsers there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for talking a look at the issue. FWIW, your site response is better after I let Disqus whirl away for a long time that first day.

I do find the stats to be more readable now, thanks for changing that. :)

Yeah no problem Lappenlocker. Any other issues or mistakes etc. please let me know and I will change them.

Updated the GR-75 Medium Transport guide with all damage cards (colour coded for your pleasure =p) along with every upgrade, crew and equipment card.

Also the X-Wing guide page has been updated with the new pilots from the GR-75 set along with the new flechette torpedoes and astromech droids.

Thanks to everyone for using these guides and any corrections or advice, please leave a comment here or on my blog.

Z-95 Headhunter guide finished.

E-Wing guide complete.

TIE Defender and TIE Phantom guides finished and ready for use.
