Opportunist and Captain Yorr

By commuterzombie, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The FAQ ruling is that the effect still happens, Yorr gets the stress, but you can still only use Elusiveness/Opportunist only once per trigger (a la Luke Skywalker's ability).

This means that Opportunist + Gunner alongside Yorr gives both attacks +1 die, and Elusiveness can potentially trigger for 4 different attacks in a single round.

I really don't want to get into a discussion. I asked the guys at FFG using the link at the bottom of the page, and I posted their response above. That's the final word. Where in the FAQ are you getting that the effect still happens???

I think he's confusing a different ruling.

This is something new. Until now, we've assumed that "Receive 1 stress token to..." effects still went off normally even if Yorr redirected the stress. But this is saying that the requirement isn't just trying to give the ship a stress - it has to actually land there in order for the effect to complete.

The wording is important here.

If the text is worded like:

  • "You may recieve a stress token to do X" , or "When you recieve a stress token"... then, Yorr is useless, because the ship actually needs the token to perform the ability. (Example: Opportunist, Soontir Fel)

However, if the text is worded like:

  • "Do X. Then, take a stress token"... then, Yorr would able to absorb the stress succesfully, without messing with the ability. (Ex: Daredevil)
