Customizable crawl

By ArisSN, in Game Masters

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but here is a customizable crawl maker, complete with the iconic Star Wars music.

To insert your crawl, just replace the text in the left box ( It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base...) then double click the bottom half of the screen.

I use this to start each week by summarizing the last session and my players really seem to dig it.

NICE!

I found that the text moves way too fast and the song doesn't play all the way through in the official one.

In the one I posted it plays as if it is strait out of a movie.

Just personal preference I suppose.

Also - just tested it - this one works on my tablet whereas the other one requires Flash I believe. So I had to create it on my desktop, then use FRAPs to record it, then transfer it to my tablet to play at the gaming table. Yes, I need to get a laptop :)

This may be an extremely stupid question; but I've tried clicking on every option I can see and I haven't been able to figure it out:

How in the world do you get the crawl to play in a proper full-screen format? I can certainly make it play; but only in its tiny window surrounded by ugly code blocks.

Also, how would you add episode-style titles to the crawl (e.g. "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back")? What code would you have to insert? (I know nothing about HTML.) Apparantly the creator was so picky about duplicating the original 1977 crawl that he left out the iconic titles and went straight to the first paragraph.

I think the episode titles could be done like so:

Add before the main text the p in brackets, the episode title and then the /p in brackets. < > being the brackets. You might have to add something to resize it or make it bold as well but it shouldn't be a big deal. I'd like to figure out how to 'save' them somewhere once you've configured them so I don't have to type it up right before a session.

As for making it full screen, you can drag the windows up so it is mostly fullscreen.

I've downloaded a Star Wars crawl app on my Ipad. Cost me 5 euro's but totally worth being able to make my own opening crawl wherever I am, regardless of wi-fi acces. The group is loving it ;)
