Either that's not 3x3 or you have the world's tiniest table. ![]()
game mats
Quick question is the 3X3' area inside the bourder or is that the prescribed starting area?
It's 3x3 inside the border..the total size is 100cm x 100cm (39in x 39in).
The only thing I would suggest, unless it was going to jack up the price, would be to make it like 3x4, with 6 inches of space outside the border on either end. That way you'd have a handy space to spread out your cards and dice and templates and stuff. ![]()

I was actually considering doing that after stumbling across this vid on youtube:
It would be cool to have an area for your cards, templates and stuff..but I just worked out the sums and it'd push the cost of the mats up by about 30%...which is a fair bit for just a blank area to put your cards.
Yeah like I said; if it was cost effective, cool. If not, that's what the table is for. ![]()

I just received mine from Deep Cut Studios but, as it was folded, it currently looks horrible. Does anyone know how to get creases out of a PVC banner?
Do I need to send it back?
It mentioned leaving it out to rest for a "short time" but after an hour and a half it doesn't really look much different.
If it's just one or two bigger folds then putting some piles of heavy books on top might get the creases out.
Take a damp towel put the vinyl on a flat table upside down, then throw the wet towl over the vynal and iron it out but with a very warm iron not lava hot. that should do the trick with the creases in the vinyl with out marring the surface just do not stay in one place with the iron. and like I said a very warm iron not too hot. the water in the towel helps to cool the vinal and iron and kinda steams it out.
I'd post a photo but I wouldn't know how ![]()
how about a hair dryer to warm up the vinyl.
More copies of the nebula mat have been ordered and the prototype of the planet mat is on it's way to the printers. Postal tubes are inbound...all systems are go. So hopefully next weekend, or just after, the nebula mat should be making an appearance on eBay as well as on the shelves of my local gaming store...took the mat in to show them and they ordered several of them there and then
..and hopefully I'll have some photo's of the planet mat to post here for some feedback.
Give us a heads up when they're available?

For sure.
I just saw this this thread, and your mat is really beautiful. Count me in as another potential buyer!
GF9 mats are real good and not too expensive ($30 online, $40 in store). I got one last week and I'm very satisfied with the quality.
(Also, could someone tell me how to upload pictures on a forum?)
Edited by FencerI picked up a game mat from GF9 at Gen Con this past August, and I absolutely love it. I know it's a bit pricey, but it's worth the price. Before I bought the mat from GF9, I was using a 3'x3' piece of felt. No more.
Any updates?
Keep us posted! I am interested in a Mat.
I'm just waiting for them to get back from the printers, they should be with me by the beginning of next week. As soon as I've got them I'll let you know.
I'm confused.
I keep seeing people singing praises for the GF9 mats. I just went on their site and they only seem to do 20" x 30" mats. But surely you need a minimum of 36" x 36" to play X-Wing?
Am I missing something? Can you request larger custom mats from them?
Yeah, I noticed that the GF9 mats that were just posted on their front page say 20"x30" or something, but when you visit the online store the mats are listed at 36"x36". They LOOK square, and I'm sure I've heard of some players using the Deep Space mat for X-Wing, so I think they're actually 36"x36" but someone might want to email GF9 about it.

Yep I can send to Finland. I've worked out that I can do the mats for around £25/€30

That's very weird, because I have all FOUR mats they have out so far, and they're all definitely not only square but 3x3. I'm not sure why they would have them listed as anything else, but their site is terrible - they don't keep it very up to date or accurate at all. Here's the "Battlestation" mat (my least favorite FWIW) listed on the WarStore, clearly listed as 3x3 and quite obviously square. http://www.thewarstore.com/product80943.html
GF9 is loco.
