Technically it is a three seater.... droids have feelings too!
But astromechs have no butts and therefore can't use seats

OK my binary might be a bit rusty, but I'm sure I've heard R2-D2 saying "Bite my shiny metal ass"

Are you sure we weren't reading Darth and Droids?
Or watching futurama?

maybe?
Whatever, I can say for certain that R2-D2 ass plate is very shiny and fabulous.
I don't think that a standard Crew slot on the Y-Wing would be overpowered at all. You still have to pay for the cost of the crew after all. I think that a Y-Wing only non-unique title card that added a crew slot would be great, and bring the Y-Wing up to the level of some of the more competitive ships.
For Horton, as I understand it his lack of EPT was down to the number of cards they needed to include in the Y-Wing expansion. Small ship expansions either have 6 Pilot Cards and 2 Upgrade Cards (TIE Fighters and Interceptors) or 4 Pilot cards and 5 Upgrade cards (X, Y, A, B-Wing, TIE Advance and Bomber). The only exception is the HWK-290 with 4 Pilot and 6 Upgrade cards.
As they like to provide one upgrade card for each 'slot' on the ship card, they must have decided not to give Horton an EPT to make room for 2 Proton Torps (woo! and indeed hoo!), 2 Astromechs and the Ion Turret. Personally I'd have preferred 1 PT and en EPT, I think FFG made a mistake there.#
I'd love a Rebel Aces pack that would have Y and A Wing re-paints, better pilots (I'm looking at you Arvel!), an errated Horton with EPT and generic title cards. IMO both ships could do with a modest boost to make them more competitive.
Just because the Y-Wing does not have a "Crew" slot in the game doesn't mean that it is necessarilly a single or two-seater. In the game, the Ion Turret is an option and has 360-degree fire. This sounds like a "gunner" is included (who else is operating the turret? A Droid? (no, Astromechs have to be purchased seperately but are not required for turret use) The Millenium Falcon (YT-1300) can fire its two quad-laser turrets 360-degrees even if you don't purchase any "Crew". Again, somebody is firing those guns. If the ship's computer van do it, then why did Han and Luke (an untrained gunner) have to man the turrets?
Chris
This is how I've always taken it, as well. Certainly the pilot isn't targeting something directly behind him while flying through an asteroid field during combat, right? If a ship has a turret, the operator is part of the points you're paying.
That being said, I wouldn't be adverse to a Title card allowing other types of crew, I think that could be neat.
Yeah a title card for the Y-Wing adding a seat for 0 or 1 cost would be a nice addition. After all there were the two-seaters and the single-seater Y-Wings. The single seaters had their turret weapon locked to position 0, 90, 180, 270 degrees. Mostly they fired forward simply. So our Y-Wing is the one man version
And with the title it could be the two man version.
I think FFG messed up when they made the current y-wing by allowing a turret. The current one should have a standard ion cannon slot in the fixed forward and the BTL-S3 should have the "turret upgrade" to simulate the gunner. That would have satiated so many people in terms of fluff.

Dude... Dude. Arvel is AMAZING! Have you been drinking?! Horton is decent too.
I personally hope that nothing in this game gets errated. Instead, if they wanted to give y-wings a crew slot, they could release a title card as was mentioned above. FFG has been getting it right the first time. Setting a precedent of changing rules through errated cards would lower their standard and make them more like stupid Wizkids (who couldn't balance a game at gunpoint).
FFG is the premier game design company. They have become the Apple computers of gaming: highest quality, not cheap, you know exactly what you are getting (no stupid exclusive broken promo ships to chase).
