audio effects to campaigns

By Robomummy, in Only War

So if you are like my group you like to set the scene with music that fits in with what the characters are doing and maybe also add a little sound effects to different things in game. I have recently exhausted the use of soundboards and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find something that would be good for background noise during the campaign. I was thinking some form of military radio chatter that some video games use but haven't been able to find anything. This would be to mostly make the players feel like they were part of a wider campaign.

So does anyone else use audio effects with their campaigns and know any good audio effects to use?

You can never go wrong with “Ride of the Valkyries”. ^_^

But also might want to look up sounds that are related to their environment: jungle noises (jungles); the sound of muffled voices and lots of foot steps (urban areas); the sounds of cannons going off and their shells screaming through the air (your typical battlefield).

Just make sure the sounds dont interfere with the games flow.

Music - can't go wrong with Two Steps From Hell, either. It's been the staple accompanyment to Deathwatch for years.

Also, at least one point during the campaign (when stuck in a firebase with a green tide incoming), be sure to boot up Klendathu Drop. It is one of the most awesome pieces of music for an imperial guard 'battle scene' ever.

As to raw 'sound effects', try seaching youtube for video clips from things like Call of duty, battlefield, etc. Download, cut to length and fade in and out. The results are generally better than trying to find individual yells, gunshots, etc and stitching them together.
