Cards in staging area that dont match character symbols

By Smazzurco, in UFS Rules Q & A

Ok i know generally cards that allow you to drop a card into your staging area say it must be "normally playable" and match the resource change in your card pool and your character.

However i have two special cases.

1: I play a seal of cessation giving my character death. Next turn i play a death foundation. Next turn i pop my seal, so that my character no longer has death, what happens to the death foundation in my staging area? Is it ok?

2: My opponent uses olcadans and adds a card from my discard pile to my staging area. This card matches no symbols with my character. What happens?

I glanced the TR for something about "cards in your staging area must match a resource with your character" but didnt see it. That doesn't mean its not there.

Thanks

1) well outside of Kasumi Gaki[now banned] and Wandering Monk there was no other way to drop a card into your staging area that shared 0 symbols with your character, but to answer your question, yes it is perfectly legal the game only cares that it was a legal play at the point that you played the card, in this case you had death on your character when you dropped it. If you lose the symbol, you get to keep the fruits of your labor unless a card in play prevents such.

2) unless my eyes deceive me the text of the card does not state "That they could normally play" after the adding of foundation so yes it is perfectly legal if they so chose to give you a foundation that shares 0 symbols with your character, why they would do such a thing is beyond me but that's not the point.

Hmm...do i smell some Buddhist Devotion or what?? gran_risa.gif

Buddhist Devotion can't drop down cards that don't match a symbol with your character as BD reads "Each player may add up to 2 foundations they could normally play from their hand to their staging area."

You can't normally play a card that doesn't match a symbol with your character.
