Ork Kommandos in Only war

By TiAn, in Only War

Hy guys,

I'm designing a campaign for my soldiers in Only War and I've decided to put some good old kommandos inside, just to change the usual ork flavor my player have adpted...

Anyhow I dont know in what book I can find the rules to use them, the only thing that I found is the rules to make some blood axe ork, but I was looking for something "different".

Any idea? Do you have already used them?

There are Ork Kommandos in Eleventh Hour.
Haven't used them or had them used against me, so that's all I can say on this matter :)

Eleventh Hour has both Kommandoes and a Kommando Nob. The former has Stealth +10 and the latter Stealth +20 - rather disconcerting for an Ork!

You might also draw inspiration from Rogue Trader, which included the options for Kommando Player Characters - they had a trait which gave them Fear (1) - or +1 Fear - when they Surprise an opponent. Being ninja-attacked by hulking orks apparently being a disconcerting experience.....

They're a great thing to throw in; let your players get used to fighting orks as the green tide, then have a mission where kommandoes slit the night watch's throats, sneak in and blow up significant bits of the base, and start massacring guardsment whilst they sleep.

Thanks to both for their help! I'll give alook to those books!

And yes, a stealth ork is rather "unusual" for their kind, but thats just what an ork kommando does, stealthing in the jungle and ambushing those puny pink humie :D (yes, I'm a long time ork player in 40k...)

My group has already fought some mob vehicles, weyrdboyz and such, I think that for a cunning Ork mekanik boss as min using some "taktiks" shoul help!

I used Ork Kommandos to great effect early on in my OW game. My players weren't well versed enough in Orky lore to even know that they existed, and thought that I was subverting the trope just to mess with them. One of the strengths of Kommandos is in their ability to plan and act ahead, and I took advantage of that. They lured characters into ambushes and laid traps in cunning places, only striking when they could achieve a decisive victory and melting away before any significant resistance could manifest. The PCs ended up hunting them down, staking out their base, and encircling and assaulting it with heavy weapons and flamers (just to be sure). I love Orks as enemies, because they're alien enough to be interesting, human enough to be relatable, tough enough to put up a good fight, and unskilled enough that the PCs stand a chance of winning.

Agreed. They are my first choice for 'only war' opponents as well for exactlly the same reasons.

They're also great fun for players for a lighter game - we've run what can best be described as Waaaggh! Trader (an ork kroozer and all ork PCs) and it was a hoot.

I like to describe my ork enemies like they was in the old editions of warhammer 40k, more comical, doing stupid things but trying their "da cunning plan" at the same time. The other enemy race dont give the same "troublemaker" vibe that orks give.
