To the victor

By Silver leader, in X-Wing Battle Reports

So i went to Recruits in Lee Summit this weekend and I took 1st. I feel great about it. But the thing i love/hate about this game is i like to win, but i like my opponents, so i hate beating them. And sadly/happily due to rules I won my last match, but I'll explain that in a sec. My squad was as followed: HWK (Rorak) w/ blaster turret, YT1300 (chewbacca) w/ Gunner and title, Y-wing (Dutch) ion cannon and R5 Astromech

(BTW only squad there rolling a Y-wing ;) eat your heart out haters )

It was a fun night all my opponents were quite the challenge but the thing that made the night was the last move of the whole thing.

So there i was, all i had was the Falcon with only shields down. The guy i was facing had a B-wing and a falcon left (both of us playing chewie). His 2 ships made their moves, the Falcon taking a damage from an asteroid. I made my move putting me at range 2 of both. The clock struck zero so this was it. I had a target lock to make and my options were tough. The B-wing had 1 HP left, and if i killed it, we tied. His Falcon 3 HP left and would give me the win. I decided to go big, and target locked the Falcon. After declaring my target and commitment to this attack, my opponent just to make things easy rolled his one defense dice. it was a focus result. So whatever i rolled landed. Rolled the 3 ATK dice 1 hit...spent the target lock..................................................................................2 crits. Boom boom boom the 3 hits i needed came up. My opponent then revealed that he had taken the evade action on the Falcon. My victory seemed to be stripped from me, but then looking at the field i realized, he passed over an asteroid and took a damage, he wasn't allowed to take an action?! My opponent realized this and didn't challenge the call from myself and other spectators. (but after the match, before placings were announced i did clarify with a judge) It couldn't of been a more cliche end to a tournament match. :)

a great night, good players and a lot of fun. I won myself a medal and a 2nd HWK, so all in all a most excellent night. And while i did take first i feel like my squad is not worlds ready. All the people i faced were Rebels, and i have had less sessions against Imperials, than I'd like. But Silver Squadron will be ready come November!

Lot of love for those Rebels. I fancy myself an Imperial player primarily. Seems the Rebs love shooting at their own people these days.

it takes more skill being an Imp, just kidding, congrats on the win

Very exciting! Yeah, I'm liking Roark.
