Just looking for a quick explanation as to how dropping a mine/bomb works.
Thanks!

iirc, mines require that you spend an action, bombs are usually dropped "for free" when or before you reveal your dial.
You then place the token and follow their rules. e.g. sesmics deal 1 damage to all ships within range one when they detonate.
The specific bomb/mine effects are listed on the card insert that comes with Bombers and Slave-1, I think.
The gist is that it tells you when to drop it (such as "when you reveal a maneuver" for one of them), and when you do so you take the straight 1 move template, place it behind your ship in the rear guides, then place the bomb at the end of it.
What the bombs do and when/how they go off varies a bit.
Thanks, I know how the bombs/mines actopns work, my question was about physically placing the token in the playing field. I didn't see it in the FAQ, where does it state the rule about using the 1 Straight to drop it out the back?
I think it's covered on the card inserts with the appropriate ships. Let me see if I can pull up an image of one.
Hmm can't find it, I'll have to pull one out and quote it tonight if I can. But yeah all bombs drop a straight one back from your ship, but some of them drop at different times than others - I'm pretty sure not all bombs/mines drop when you first reveal your maneuver dial, for example.
Ok cool that'd be great. My buddy thinks it should happen while moving or after the move and that didn't sound right.
The one thing I can tell is that they don't all drop the same.
Seismic:
When you reveal your maneuver dial, you may discard this card to drop 1 seismic charge token.
This token detonates at the end of the Activation phase.
Prox Mine:
Action: Discard this card to drop 1 proximity mine token.
When a ship executes a maneuver, if its base or maneuver template overlaps this token, this token detonates.
Proton Bomb:
When you reveal your maneuver dial, you may discard this card to drop 1 proton bomb token.
This token detonates at the end of the Activation phase.
Proton Bombs Rule:
Every ship at Range1 take a Critical Hit on Detonation (Shields are ignored)
Sorry for the funky formatting. Anyway, two of them drop when you flip over your maneuver dial (note - you cannot drop them while Ioned), one of them is an action and drops whenever you take your action (note - this is fun to use with Advanced Sensors).

How can you use it with Advanced Sensors? Only B-wings and Lambdas can use that and they don't have Bombs.

Thank you, TIE Punisher!
So, for placement on the board (either when you reveal a maneuver, or as an action depending on the ordnance): take the 1 straight template, place between nubs on the back of your base, then socket bomb/mine on the far end of the template. Carry on with the rest of the ship's activation. Boom (hopefully)
If using Deathrain it can be done slightly differently.
If I have been playing this correctly it means you can reveal dial, make move , use action to drop bomb from either front or rear of ship and then perform a free barrel roll.
That's how you do it. Perfectly within both letters and intend of the rules.
