Can someone explain the advantage to these? When you use it you will have already set your maneuver... so i don't see the advantage...
Advanced sensors
@Daeglan Advanced Sensors will allow you to take an action before doing a red manuever. Allowing you to have a focus, for example, before doing a K-Turn.
Also when you find out your bearing will plant you on top of that enemy who parked his ship right where you were going to end up, allowing you to use actions normally lost with overlapping.
They can also be used to acquire a target lock on a ship that could potentially be out of range during the Action phase.
@trevor.eubank's example is the best use that I can think of at this time.
Barrel roll before you run into an asteroid.
How about...
Boost then K-Turn - or otherwise know as a crooked K-Turn.
Use the action first not second.
Also when you find out your bearing will plant you on top of that enemy who parked his ship right where you were going to end up, allowing you to use actions normally lost with overlapping.
You must declare you are using advanced sensors before revealing your maneuver dial so no putting down the template, finding out you can't do it, and then using advanced sensors.
It's also handy any time you figure out "I should not have picked that move - I am about to run into [whatever] and lose my action this turn." Best case, you're able to do a boost or barrel roll or something before you move, and maybe get clear of whatever you were going to collide with.
Worst case? You get to focus, target lock, whatever before moving, which means you have it available to spend even after you crash.

But there are plenty enough times where someone parks a freighter in front of you, and you know perfectly well you're about to 1-straight right up his tail pipe, without needing to measure.
Imagine using PTL, taking two actions, then using a green maneuver to clear the stress you just received.
In the cases of ships with barrel roll or boost, you could also drastically change the position of your ship from where your opponent may predict.
Try taking Ibtisam sometime with Advanced Sensors, Push the Limit, and an Engine Upgrade; you'll be able to come at people from all KINDS of crazy angles - and trigger her ability to boot.
Advanced Sensors could also help when flying aganist the new TIE Interceptor Pilot Carnor Jax.
Example - your lower pilot skill ship is outside of Range 1 to Carnor Jax before you move, but will be within Range 1 once you move. Advanced Sensors would allow you to perform a Focus or Evade prior to your move. Then Carnor Jax would move and hopefully be outside of Range 1 which would then allow you to use the Focus or Evade.
Carnor Jax's pilot skill: "Enemy ships at Range 1 cannot perform focus or evade actions and cannot spend focus or evade tokens."
Oh the shenanigans I will pull with this one... Except most ships can't use this mod.

But you can't use the Focus or Evade tokens within range 1.
Immagine a situation where your ship with advanced sensors is currently out of range 1 of Jax, but going to move into range 1 of Jax, before Jax gets to move (you have a lower PS). You know (hope) Jax will most likely move out of range 1 when he moves. You could use the advanced sensors to take the action you'd be prevented from taking once your movement is complete.

If you can't spend them within range 1 of him, I'm curious what you could do before moving, thanks to AS, that you could not do after moving. You can focus or evade, then move, but you can't USE them if you then move within range 1, right?
Besides the semi-obvious "get your actions in before you can't take them" reason for using Advanced Sensors I really have to like the option to boost or barrel roll before moving makes all kinds of options available. Being able to take a barrel roll before or after moving means a total of five possible spaces you could end up in depending on your maneuver (I don't think banks/turns will line up although straights should). If boost is available that is SEVEN possible outcomes. If you get two actions then guessing where you're going to end up should be nearly impossible except as circumstances dictate.

Quite true. Only the Imperial Shuttle and B-wing are presently able to use this upgrade. Neither of them can boost without a modification card and only the B-wing can barrel roll. It seems to have been added because these two ships have a lot of red arrows on their dials. Also, I think FFG need to clarify whether this upgrade can be used with Push the Limit. The upgrade card says you can perform ONE action before moving, not one or more actions, so it's a bit of a grey area.

That's not quite right. It states:
Once per round, after you perform an action, you may perform 1 free action shown in your action bar.
It says nothing about moving just after you perform an action you may perform another.
How is this a gray area?

But this is quite clearly not working. One action that's it and because you have to skip your perform action step afterwards ypu will never get the second one even after the movement

This is a crazy good one because she even benefits from the stress. Too sad push the limit amd Advanced sensors don't work together. Because Intisam is a good candidate for both of them.Try taking Ibtisam sometime with Advanced Sensors, Push the Limit, and an Engine Upgrade; you'll be able to come at people from all KINDS of crazy angles - and trigger her ability to boot.

Why doesn't it work? PTL lets you take a free action after performing an action. Advanced Sensors let you take an action before you move instead of after you move. If the action that you take via Advanced Sensors doesn't stress you then you can use PTL because the condition to use it (taking an action) has been met with the action gained from Advanced Sensors.

Yeah I don't know if I agree with this one or not. Advanced Sensors lets you perform a free action before revealing your maneuver. PTL says "after you perform an action." It doesn't say anything about that action having to happen during the Perform an Action step. AS instructs you to perform an action - PTL triggers off of you performing an action... I'm not sure if I see why you couldn't use them both, since the PTL action would trigger off the first action, regardless of what part of the turn it occurred during.
This works exactly the same way every other action interacts with PTL. If your PTL ship gains an action from somebody else handing it to him (Lando, Squad Leader) or from some other source (Turr Phennir boosting/barrel rolling after an attack), then you can immediately use PTL to get another action.
So yes, you could use Advanced Sensors to take an action, use PTL and take another action before maneuvering. Just be careful that you don't have a red maneuver selected, or the stress you gain from PTL will allow your opponent to choose your maneuver.
Yeah so if you take Ibs and stress her with this, awesome.
If you take Ibs, stress her with this, and you picked your K2 turn, less awesome.

Well, if someone PTL's before they perform a red maneuver that they just placed then they get what they deserve. :-)
