Mines off the map

By Parakitor, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I was considering TIE bomber squads loaded with bombs and came across an interesting scenario. If a bomber were to fly right along the edge and drop a Proximity Mine, part of the mine would be hanging off the map. Would that still be a legal place to drop it? Would it "flee the battlefield" before anybody has a chance to hit it?

I think this was answered at GenCon but it "flees" the battlefield if any part touches the edge of the game area. I think you can place it all you want but you'd lose it. That's what I remember as the answer but I don't think you'll find a printed answer anywhere.

So would it be like a barrel roll or boost? If you can't place the token can you "undo" the bomb?

This one was actually directly covered in the last FAQ, unless I'm missing something.

Q. Can a bomb token be dropped outside the
play area?
A: No. If a player attempts to drop a bomb token
and any portion of that token falls outside the play
area, it cannot be dropped. The player may choose
another action instead.

Doh! Should have read the FAQ again. Will do that now. :)
