Space Combat - Speed Issues

Yup, doc is right there. At my gaming group we play D&D 2nd edition and that system also leaves a lot of room to the GM for handling different situations.

Its exactly the narrative nature of the rules that made me interested in EotE. Really can't be arsed with gridmaps, hexes etc, they devolve games into counting out squares.

Yeah, as I mentioned in some of the other topics, when 3.x/d20 D&D came out, one of the design intents was to codify the rules to the point that a player in Group A could move to Group B and have essentially the same experience. Since, in the prior editions where "looser" in the rules different GMs could rule differently in different circumstances and there were a lot of house rules used.

The two games I run now, EotE and 13th Age, both have returned to this looser way of rules interpretation and I'm loving it. I'd forgotten how great all those original games we played were as far as narrative quality and "make it up and move on" ease of play.

Anyway, I haven't got much space combat practice in, but I'm in agreement with a looser interpretation.
