Good Starting Planet?

By TurtleAssassin, in Game Masters

Hey all,

Just wondering if you could suggest a planet for my group to start on based on the info provided:

  • They are going to be up and coming bounty hunters in a lesser organization that is affiliated with the Black Suns (but doesn't actually know it is)
  • Their first mission will be to assassinate a local political activist at a party being held in his house, which I imagined as a nice sort of city apartment style venue.
  • They have a former politician in their group who has left his life of politics for a "higher calling", so I'd like it to be relatively close to civilized life.

My initial thoughts led me to Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa, but I'm curious if there isn't a better option here.

Thanks!

All depends on how "civilized" you want it to be, and how close to an Imperial presence you want to go to.

That said:

Nar Shadaa's "politicians" are pretty much already owned by the Hutts, so it could work for your idea you have above, especially if this activist is against what the Hutts are trying to do.

Coruscant is an issue as getting weapons into the planet is going to take some finaggling, black market ties, bribes, etc. That, and most "political activists" have to be VERY careful as he's literally on the Empereror's doorstep.

Ord Mantell has some things that may be useful, but it all really depends on where they are hanging out.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Tapani Sector, especially with how many underhanded things are done between the various houses. Assassination wouldn't be surprising there.

Corellia is always a hoot, but may be too close to the Core for what you have in mind. May still work out, though.

Most of the planets in the Corporate Sector may help with the combination of "civilized" and "fringe."

I don't have any of my galaxy maps here, so I can't fire off planets like I normally do, but that may help get you started at least.

I like the Medieval like society of the Tapani Sector. I think I could see political conspiracy being pretty common there. Thanks!

It's more Machievellian Rennaissance, but it works! And yeah, there's plenty of intrigue, backstabbing, politics, and more in that sector.

It's oneof the few boxed sets I bought for any of the RPGs I've played/run, and it's honestly been well worth it.
