Six Panel Board

By Drop Bear, in Tannhauser

OK since Nine Panel bprds are a touch too compclated, what would folks think of a six panel board to alow thee team games or games using larger teams (say seven a side)? would it work or would folks bunch up all on the same four panels and cause over-crowding?

Depends on the map. I generally stay away from movement impediments and dead ends so on the mansion map that keeps me away from the entrance and the room that exits toward them. And since I always get stuck with the Union I like to keep them together, which draws the other player in and then we get "over crowding".

It all depends on your style and optimal positioning

Not sure what you are asking here? 9 panel board? What does that mean? What do you mean by panel?

Well the currant Tannhauser Board is a Four Panel Board it folds twice and has a 50% cut, a fairly easy setup and comparativaly durable, Arkham Horror uses a six pannel board (if I recall from the last time I had the game out) can't recall the Fold & Cut setup but their are a good many six pannel set ups just as durable as four pannel set ups, when you go to Nine Panel the set up gets too complicated to create a board that will last, their are just too many points of failuere.

This is going to be a tricky one for the designers. While the pathfinding system makes LOS easier it also cuts down on the play area. I would love to see a larger map for either more movement freedom or more factions to take part. It will be almost impossible for a nine panel map in the current configuration. It would be almost guaranteed to rip. The only way I can see this happening is similar to TOI which seems to have sturdy boards that don't suffer too much from warp. I would very much like to see some big locations such as a Reich field command, Union Radar station or a Russian gun emplacement etc. The boys and girls at TOY will need to think about his one or really we are going to be limited in what locations and size of maps can be produced going forward. Of course you can use the new secret doors to create map connectivity e.g. mansion and crypt but it's not quite the same. A six panel board would probably work quite well if done in two parts of 3 panels. This would seem a reasonable solution for a larger game board. It would also still fit in a box quite easily.
