Hey guys, I just ordered 2 decks, a ken starter and a taki starter, just wanted to know what people think of these starter decks (if they're good or not). Also if you guys know certain crucial cards that would be good in these decks that'd be cool. Also does anyone know if these are good decks compared to the sakura and nightmare starters? My friends ordered them and i wanna know if they'll have an edge on me ;^)

I think the best out of those four is Sakura. But I don't remember taki/nightmare

Just curious, what makes you say that the Sakura deck is good/best?

Her card is really good (Can't remember what the rares are). Anyways, her first ability let's you gain 2 vitality everytime your opponent attacks on their turn. Not bad at all considering you don't have to commit her to pay for it and can use it through all their attacks. Her other one is stellar though. She has six hand size, but she can take any card in the discard pile and play it as though it were part of her hand. That allows a WIDE selection for what that 7th card in your hand is. Her symbols: Water and All are really good - but don't worry about that now if you're just starting off.

EDIT: On the plus side, you get this deliciousness so don't feel too bad

Wow, and a vitality of 27....that almost seems overpowered. Do you know any weaknesses?

Then again both Sakura and Ken have All..so maybe a chance you'll both get Bitter Rivals.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, they're both starter decks so I think it should be fair game. 27 is not a big deal either. Ken has 26 so not a world of difference.

Man i can't help feeling that Sakura is mass over-powered....i mean you can with an enhance like that any attack that does 2 or less damage is pointless and anything above is severely weakened....theres gotta be some way around it. anyone have some ideas? Or am i over reacting and its really not as good as it seems?

Um... how's about a really big attack for really fast? That'll stop her. Or like two medium sized attacks. That'd work too. Its very possible to build one or two shot decks. I recommend looking for some Fight or Flights and Bitter Rivals (to punch damage, and then to help push it through).

Get some Tag Along. Action whose response cancels any character's ability, and then stops a character from playing it for the rest of the turn.

Undercover Agent lets you commit to CARDS in your opponent's staging area after they use the same ability twice. Along with (ultra rare but...) US Airbase will make it tougher for sakura to keep doing her life gain ability (US Airbase forces someone to make a check against difficulty 6 after they play the same ability twice, other wise the ability is canceled).

And the nasty dirty rumours of cards in the next sets having some life gain hate...

But yeah. Really it's probably just going to be one big attack or like a consistent 3-5 medium attacks a turn (mostly unblocked of course).

Out of the Domination starters, I'd say HACKuma is better than Sakura. Perhaps that's just me, though.

Also Tag Along is by FAR the best answer for Sakura... though I don't think you get any of those in the starters. The only action IIRC is one Kung-Fu Training, but it's guaranteed.

Wait, which Ken starter deck did you get? Domination or the set 1 rendition? The Domination one would be the better of the two imo, because it comes with Kuzuryu Reppa and some other nice cards. The older Ken got an errata, I believe limiting his ability to once per turn...

Capitalistic markets may be swayed if you find one shop, and really nail it about not haivng product. Start ordering product online, and then show up to the store with it and one other player that plays. The store will see it missed a sales opportunity, and then you can ask it a second time if they'll carry the product.

Capitalism is rough man. But at least this way there gets to be more than one CCG for people to pick from. Imagine if EVERYONE was forced to play Pokemon?

K guys i have a huge problem, like i said before i got a ken deck and a friend of mine got a sakura deck, the problem lies in the fact that A) sakura gains +2 vitality EVERY TIME I ATTACK and that in his starter he got 3 copies of "Schoolgirl Innocence" which allows him to gain +2 vitality every time he it commits. Isn't this a weee bit crazy? i mean at that point he can gain up to 8 vitality from one of my attacks. I'm thinking there must either be A) an eretta on sakura limiting her enhance to once per turn or/and B) a card limit on how many "schoolgirl innocence's" you can have in your deck.

BTW, who do you go to to check and submit suggestions for eretta's and limits in general????

In regards to limits on card effects, and submitting suggestions for errata, that can be done by emailing FFG directly through the website (try the contact us link.

However in general, there are many solutions available. Sadly many of them require aquiring additional cards beyond what is in the starter deck.

There are cards which commit your opponents character. That will totally neuter Sakura. As will cards that negate E's or, prevent E's from being played all together. Such as:

There are additional options available beyond these, including playing reversals on your opponents turn. I recently picked up 10 boosters from the new street fighter set, to build a deck out of, so that my new players would be facing something on their powerlevel, and found that playing reversals was a very effective way to take care of Sakura. Especially when she'd been spamming foundations, and a sardine beach special hit her for 24 in one shot.
