New Tie Interceptors Annouched "Earn Your Bloodstripes"

By CaliAlpha, in X-Wing

To buy another set just so I can have the additional paint schemes seems like such a waste.

There's only a couple reasons why you'd buy more then one box.

1) You want 2-3 of each paint scheme, and don't want to do it yourself.

2) You want a squad of normal TI's, 181st TI's and ERG TI's, so you'd need 5 of each.

3) You want more copies of the cards that come with the set.

Other then that I can't see much reason to buy more then one box. You get enough cards with the box that you really don't need a lot of extras unless you can't proxie them.

If you want all 181st or all ERG, and already have some TI's, you could just repaint what you have.

If you want to use some of the named pilots, you can put a normal TI on the table, nothing in the rules would require that you use one of these alt-paint models with a named pilot.

I can see Rebel ace and Imperial Ace packs in the flavors of A-wing pack, B-wing, X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE, TIE Advance. thus giving us more pilots and paint schemes.

What a wonderful way to start the week! I will definitely be picking up two of these.

I'm not sure opportunist is really all that good. Its 4 points, so it costs more points than push the limits and it is an elite pilot talent. That means, in many cases, the ship firing will be higher PS that the target, so you may not often get the extra die, and you likely won't get to stack focus and target lock like you could with PtL. It will have some uses, but I'm not sure its something you will take often.

I notice that the 181st squadron TIE/INT pilot only gets his red stripes once he has 10 confirmed kills. I think this would be pretty cool to replicate with a standard Interceptor until he has achieved the required total.

Opportunist looks sick.

. . . Just think of the permutations.

Opportunist with Ibtism and Jan Ors on the board

When they do a rebel aces pack I'd love to see.......

Farlander

Zev

Hobbie Kelvin

Dack

Rouge Squadron pilot

Also how about some better R2 units?

Some that beef attacks or allow you to take system upgrades.

Renagade Flight or Tierfon Yellow Aces would be cool squads.

Here's a goofy one: in the mission where you can take 2 elite pilot talents, Opportunist + Expose on Wedge or Luke, at Range 1 with Jan Ors' bonus. SEVEN RED DICE.

This seems like a natural Ib card.

Except multi upgrade is TIE interceptor only isn't it?

Love this announcement. I can't wait to see what other ships will be getting this treatment. Honestly this is a great way to expand the game without jumping right into waves four and five and running out of good ships to make.

Edit: That's for modifications Ken. I think he is talking about the mission scenario where one designated ship can take an extra elite talent.

It is an elite pilot skill. Which have never been tied to specific ships. Why would they start now?

I think it's pretty cool FFG is putting out this expansion pack. My only complaint is that they didn't make the ERG Tie Interceptor true to the model. They just painted it red, but didn't add the additional wings.

The custom ERG TIs that some people made are better examples of the true model.

It will be interesting to see if this expansion counter-balances the X-wing expansion that comes with the Transport...

Now the everyday check of MM preorder begins. Assuming this will cost the same as a large base ship ($30 MSRP or $20 MM/CSI)

As far as rebel aces i too hope they will do that. But i think this pack was designed to counter the "escort ship" and pilots that come with the Epic Transport Ship. Rebels get new pilots in the form of that package. Although i hope they make that escort ship and pilots available separate from the Transport ship as well

I'll try to let you know when it goes up!

Curse you FFG, my wallet hasn't recovered from Wave 3 yet!

This game continues to astonish me. These guys are hitting all the marks this year. I'm not an Imperial player and that news excites me!

Awesome!!

I need it now!

Im currently waiting for 3 Interceptors but I got to get me 2 of these packs!

This is awesome. Interceptors are already pretty much my favorite ships and this will make it easy to field a lot of them.

I was pretty disappointed at first that the ERG ship had the same stats as the basic squint, but then I saw the Royal Guard title... very interesting...

Here's an expensive but terrifying proposition: Soontir Fel, Royal Guard Tie title, PTL, Opportunist. Probably too expensive considering you'd never be able to use both abilities in the same turn (unless you also had Captain Yorr in your airspace...)

Oops I was talking about a ship title that allowed two mods,

OR maybe one Y-Wing one X-Wing...

That was about the rebel pack that will hopefully also come, and i agree that this would be a good idea.

Well played, FFG.

Just DAYS after Wave 3 releases to the general public, you announce this coming soon to an LGS near you. Squints had all but disappeared from the meta game due to their ease of being killed for their costs (that hasn't changed, btw), and you have just infused so much excitement for playing Squints that everyone has forgotten what they learned not 6 months ago. Plus, you're building up our fleets for the upcoming Epic-scale games. Brilliant move, guys.

Don't get me wrong, I too am excited to play with my new pretty toys. And I will likely be getting 2 of these for their sheer awesomeness.

Would rather have x-wing pack and a seperate y-wing pack

Weeee alternate paints!

Yes, well played, Mr. Petersen. You did not mention this during this year's In-Flight Report. You figured we would be exstatic over the the news of the Rebel Transport and the Blockade Runner, we would not give this a second thought at that time. . . . .
. . . Again, well played.

For what it's worth, i think the best use of squints is Alpha squadron pilot at 18 points. These royal guard pilots that are approaching 40 points... While totally awesome on the table, and able to do a bunch of cool stuff, that is approaching falcon territory.

Interesting, 15 hit points of squints is easy to kill, 21 hit points of tie fighters is Gen Con winning durable. Guess I'm going to have to ditch my 5 squint list, despite its superior firepower...
